RUSH: Now McCain. This is funny. This is from Jonathan Martin, our old buddy the blogger at The Politico. Styrofoam coffee cup in hand, John McCain came back toward the press section of his charter jet to indulge questions and allow the photogs to get some shots. Asked what he would say to conservatives still suspicious about his candidacy, McCain interrupted the question. I say a very large portion of it, the conservative base, voted for me yesterday I thank you, McCain said... I will continue to expand that base. McCain cited two reasons one old and one new to make his case as to why Christian conservatives should get behind him. A very large portion of the evangelical community is becoming more and more concerned about climate change because of our biblical obligation to be good stewards of our planet, McCain said. That clearly is an issue that Im in complete sync with the evangelical community on. Okay. Stop laughing, because this was a calculated statement and the evangelical community? Why, I thought that was Huckabees!
But make no mistake: Governor Huckabee, at this stage, in my opinion, is in the race to take Romney out of the way for McCain. Just to hit off on this evangelical business, the thing Huckabees gotta understand is if you have made a deal with McCain behind the scenes, under the table, understand its one way, because McCain is going to throw you overboard as soon as he has to, Governor (laughing), when the time comes and hell not remember the deal or it will get reshaped in his mind or somehow changed. McCain also said hed point out something that hes not always been comfortable doing that hes voted the anti-abortion line for his whole career. Ill also try to make them remember that my social conservative record has been consistent and unchanging, and in that way hes going to take out Rudy. So hes going to try to get the Huckabee vote with the global warming route and try to get the evangelicals. Hes going to try to take Rudy out with his consistent abortion stand, which hes not fabricating. He has been consistent on the pro-life issue.

The only thing that could bring to mind my gut feeling is syrup of ipecac.
Rush alleges Huckabee in backroom deal with McCain
Spread this!
It could be unvolontarily the kiss of death from Mc Cain to HUCK....
It’s a battle between two compassionate conservatives until South Carolina. Those that believe in environmentalism, illegal immigration, federal social programs, and government regulation.
According to Limbaugh (see article)
Rush does very little research apparently. McCain has not been consistent on the life issue.

Sheesh, McCain will say anything, no matter how stupid. I should have known something was up when I saw a pic of McCain rally on Drudge the other day and, sure enough, there was a guy standing right behind holding a big sign that with “Stop Global Warming” on it.
I know tons of evangelicals, and while they do believe in their stewardship of the earth responsibility, it has more to do with not polluting. Most everybody I know thinks that yes, there is a recent warming trend, but human activity has nothing to do with it.
In addition to his “biblical obligation to be good stewards of our planet,” McCain today started going populist based on Judeo-Christian values. It’s pathetically transparent what he’s trying to do. I simply cannot believe that Christians would be so stupid as to fall for it.
When McCain thumps the Bible... it just doesn’t look natural, you know?
This makes sense, both Huckabee and McCain are far left liberals.
If you arent for some reason elected president, what cabinet position would you be suited for? I asked. Huckabee paused, considering. Secretary of health and human services would be one, he said. Secretary of transportation, or the interior. Perhaps aware that this wasnt a Mount Rushmore self-evaluation, he quickly added that he doesnt really want a cabinet position or any other government job. Id be just as happy to go back to Arkansas and open a bait shop on a lake, he said.
No, it doesn't. Especially when he has that scowl on his face, you know the one, when he's doing the thumping. Somehow it just doesn't bring to mind "Make a Joyful Noise". ;-)
McCain is not a far left liberal, because he is strong on national defense and against abortion. But when I read this “climate change” nonsense it is maddening. I will agree that true air pollution should be reduced, I don’t want to breath it. But convincing people they have a religious duty to fight global warming? Oy.
I don’t see how McCain can win this thing. Too much baggage over many years.
Sad fact number one: The GOP has very weak candidates.
“A very large portion of the evangelical community is becoming more and more concerned about climate change because of our biblical obligation to be good stewards of our planet,”
Sad thing is, he may be right.
Among the latte-Evangelicals.
