“The people surrounding the von Mises Institute—including Paul—may describe themselves as libertarians, but they are nothing like the urbane libertarians who staff the Cato Institute or the libertines at Reason magazine. Instead, they represent a strain of right-wing libertarianism that views the Civil War as a catastrophic turning point in American history—the moment when a tyrannical federal government established its supremacy over the states.”
Shhh, the Civil War was all about slavery!
Yeah, this hit piece while containing facts goes off on a wild racist xenophobic tinged rant of it’s own from the author’s prejudices and biases. Very poorly written piece considering this guy believes he has campaign killing “gotcha journalism” level of proof of Ron Paul’s racism. When the facts don’t stand on their own, start doing a carnival barker routine, James Kirchick shot the messenger, and he is the messenger.
“And what is incorrect about that interpretation of US history?”
I know. I pretty much have been reaching this conclusion on my own. It’s good to know I’m not alone. I’ll have to check them out.
Well, if you're a central-planning lib-left progressive statist Marxist-Communist, pretty much everything.
