I have done a lot of study of these and plan to sell my laptop and buy a second generation one. There is one guy who has installed a 3G radio complete with sim card to it internally, and has even installed a touch screen on one of them! Search Asus Eee PC on youtube and you will find two videos where he shows how he did the modifications. Plus there are many other interesting vids there of this nifty little PC. It boots up in about 15 seconds!!

However, the anticipated second-gen Eee PC failed to make its anticipated appearance. Geeks with word processors - not a good combination.

I own an ancient Sony Picturebook C1XS mini laptop that was just amazing for it's day. For a traveller, mini laptops can't be beat.
It's available if anyone would like it. Still have original factory packaging and accessories too.

I am OK with the 7-inch screen resolution for my needs. I would like to see a bigger flash drive, 16GB or larger, and the Merom fanless chassis.
Regular 802.11G wireless is OK too, better yet 802.11N. What I DON'T want is a load of Microsoft. Linux, simplicity and economy are the keys.
If they jazz it up too much with Windows, Wimax and a big screen, what they will have is an entry-level subnotebook in a different class of machine.
I would be happy with the current 8GB black EeePC at a lower price. I just want to FReep and get my email with no Windows or Office trial version.
