Sorry Jo but outside Rush Limbaugh, Talk Radio virtually did not exist in 1992.

And Rush had not risen to the height he reached since. I am not sure of the exact numbers but Rush was only on about 300-400 stations in 1992.

In 1992 there were no Rush clones like Hannity, Savage, Ingrham, Reagan, Hewitt, Medivden, O'Reily, Beck etc etc etc. The Conservative message in Rush's 3 hours are now picked up and magnified by hundreds of echo chambers around the country now. In 1992 very little in the way of local political talk shows out side TV. Now there are thousands of stations that do political talk. In 1992 It was all Rush alone for only 3 hours a day in 1992.

No Fox News in 1992.

What became the Internet was a neat toy a bunch of techie geeks like me were playing with in 1992.

Both Perot and Clinton got away with it because there was no alternative media on them 24-7. In 1996 an improving economy, a tame "News media" and a weak Republican candidate keep Clinton in office. This is the 1st time the Clintons have had to fight a serious campaign under the glare of the Alternative media.

And thanks to 8 years of Bill we are much better prepared for their sleazy tricks this time.

Yeah, there were no martini drinkers before Rush...no American Spectator readers...none of that existed....:)

I disagree Johnnie...

James Dobson had and still has a huge radio audience.
I believe he was a “king maker” in the ‘92 election.
Dobson is way more influential and responsible than
you give him credit.

I have been listening to talk radio all my life (Class
of ‘72). The number of listeners is certainly larger,
but conservative talk radio has been here for a very
long time. My mother listened to AM in the 60’s. It
was more underground, but it was there.

I agree that it was limited, but...We had Gordon Liddy, Barry Farber and Pat Buchanon (Pat along with a liberal talking head on his gig) doing daily radio shows in 1992.
