A couple of yahoos interrupted Hillary Clintons speech tonight in Salem by waving big signs and chanting Iron my shirts!
Clinton asked that the lights be turned on, apparently to see them better and declared. Oh the remnants of sexism, alive and well tonight, to applause.
She then talked about breaking glass ceilings, before joking as the pair were hustled out: If theres anybody in the audience who wants to learn to iron his own shirt, we can talk about that.
We followed.to ask what the heck they were thinking.
Nick Gemelli, who is 21, and born at least a decade after iron my shirts was an anti-womens rights slogan, didnt have much of a rationale. I just dont think a woman should be President, he said.
He couldnt really say why, but he agreed that he was a health care voter, as the sticker on his carrying case implied. The Hillary for President sticker was a bit more of a puzzle.
He said he had just been given both and peeled them off. He said he had no connection to any campaign.
At least he got some attention. His friend a la Bart Simpson said his name was Hugh Jas, but The Mouth later learned that his real name is Adolfo Gonzalez Jr.
Update Adolfo apparently has a MySpace page that says he is a Republican who doesnt do drugs or have a girlfriend, and calls himself Captain Fun. He did seem to enjoy himself more than Nick.

Oh, youre good. Youre REALLY good.
I tell you the truth: I have never seen this guy's page on MySpace. In this case, there's a certain form of mental collectivization based on entertainment dependency, signs of relative youth, limited phraseology, predictable and dull sense of humor, and the like--that sends up red flags, five times out of five.
All I needed was a typical, American Dad-style caricature of "Republicans," in the form of a dichotomy between so-called health freaks and so-called Republicans. Everything else flows naturally. People are just that dumb.

That was my first thought, too, she planted them there so she could mention the glass ceiling. She was too calm and too quick with the comments.

You have a good question there. Clinton inc, supposedly the most formindable, politcal machine of our generation, is really looking past it.
You have to wonder, HOW did we ever lose to these people? But then we did not have the alternative media in 1992. I wonder if the Internet and Talk Radio had been as powerful in 1992 as they are now, if Bill would of won?

Dumb and predictable.
Where these cookie cutter cids believe their
behavior singles them out from the school of fish
- rather it is a sign of modern coloquial conformity
and of a narrow cultural exposure.

Talk Radio was powerful in 1992.
Consider that Dr. James Dobson persuaded the religious right NOT to
vote for Bush 41 because he wasn’t “born again enough”. Though decidedly
pro abortion, many Christians voted FOR Perrot. The rest is history.
Rope a dope indeed.

I think you've nailed my criteria on the head.
If I said that an out of control sense of consumerism with regard to media (your "narrowing"), ongoing cultural, intellectual, and ethical degeneration, and growing aliteracy might have something to do with this, would I sound the least bit crazy?

From his MySpace page:
He was an on air host for KNON.
He went to Moses Molina HS, and was on the drama team.
I know this part of Dallas quite well. There are less than 10% of Hispanics who fit this profile who have voted Republican.
KNON has become a Latino radio station that IIRC that helped sponsor the May Day Immigration riots in Dallas.
There is little chance that this kid was a Republican, has ever voted Republican or will be a Republican before he is 40.
And he went to Boston to be an on-air character?
He needed the publicity or was paid to do it.

I'm in the minority, but I don't think he was a Hillary plant. I don't think he's a Republican either.
He's just a sorry fat Boston kid going to a community college, who has never had a date, and thought it would be funny to yell dopey things at Hillary Clinton, then call his favority goofy "morning zoo" and brag about it.
His never had a date streak will continue for the foreseeable future.

In 1992, Rush Limbaugh was the only real force in alternative media.
If we had the Drudge Report in 1992, I don't know if things would be different. For example, we have our Perot candidate in the form of a certain Texas congressman whose name I am no longer allowed to mention. He has done quite a lot due to the Internet. E-snowballs are still in the works, however.
Your question presumes that it is merely an issue of establishment left versus objective or right-leaning media. I think it's a systemic problem, indicative of something deeper.

I'll have you know that unmarked black helicopters, manned by Greys, are already dispatched to your place of residence. Look outside your bedroom window.
See that?
