HOUSTON, Jan. 7, 2008Brian I-Am-Not-A-Politician Klock, a Republican candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Texass 22nd District, announced today that he will show solidarity with American Forces fighting the Global War on Terror by lunching exclusively on MRE (Meals, Ready to Eat) rations through the March 5 primary election.
That could get expensive.
MREs are really good now.
Watch out for the omelette... always hated that thing... ugh... [shudders at the memory...]
His fund raising dinners sure aren’t going to net what they used to.
A little hot sauce and bam!!!
A noble gesture on his part...Respectable...
I hope I get a chance to meet him sometime soon...
C-rats, I’d be impressed. If you ran out of hand grenades you could always chuck the pound cake at ‘em...
Alternate headline: Candidate opts for constipation until after primary election....
‘wonder what his usual fare is...
You beat me to it.
Why do so many people proudly announce to the world that they are not politicians, while desperately trying to become one? Once D.C. has its fingers in them, they are politicians, no matter what they were before.
The only honest thing for a truly-non-politician to do would be to win the election, then refuse to report to Washington.
cool!
The extra money he spends on MRE’s will be offset by not having to buy TP - those things plug you up bad.
Does this mean he is fasting on MRE's for lunch and will avoid MRE's for other meals?
I’ll try to find out.
Make it the chicken ala king each time and I will be very impressed. You could not feed prisoners on that one without the Geneva Convention being invoked.
Haha ,no doubt ... hope he plans on having Metamucil chasers to wash them down with .
But I also liked ham and eggs chopped (C-rat).
Now Thai Chicken is a killer. Taste good but the after effects are painful. NEVER eat the Thai Chicken when flying. On the flip side it will cure dysentery.
If this idiot eats these things three meals a day he had better have a heavy workout schedule. 2000+ calories per meal will put the weight on.
Tell ya what, when was the last time you ate MRE's for 10-going on 15 months steady, humping a 100 pounds of gear, up and down mountain goat trails - dodging bullets and RPG's?

You burn up a lot of calories under these situations = I think the pol, to make it really authentic, aught to 'embed' - with these guys, who were in some 450 firefights in their first 6 months - live with no running water, no warm huts, etc etc...Not just pick one = the easiest one = area to empathize with.
He might end up really hankering for something he could get his teeth into - and some heavy duty protein....
But that's just my guess.
Actually, I take that back. It's no guess. I've talked with these guys in the Kunar
