Former Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove announced his candidacy today for the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Trent Lott.
Gov. Haley Barbour has appointed former U.S. Rep. Roger Wicker to fill the Senate post until the November election.
There is a complete disconnect between what they argue about in Washington and what people worry about at home, Musgrove, a Democrat, said in announcing his candidacy during a series of events in Tupelo, Jackson, Hattiesburg and Gulfport.
Musgrove strongly condemned the fiscal and economic policies of Congress, including the deficit spending, the pork barrel earmarks, the spending money they dont have and wasting the money they do have.

No way does he stand a chance. The run will be nothing more than one big ad for his law practice.
Mississy ping yall.
“The run will be nothing more than one big ad for his law practice.”
We should be accustomed to that after John Eaves’ run for guvna. I wonder how much of the $18 mil he spent will get written off as business advertising.
Who got Speaker of the House? Smith or McCoy? The local radio changed over to national programming before the tally...

He just described his tenure as Governor. Mississippi has had all of this pos we can stand!
LLS
I predict he’ll be as successful as the last time he ran for office. ;o)
Thanks for the post and ping!
I agree he has no chance, but I disagree about his law practice. His firm (Watkins, Ludlum Winter and Stennis) is not like that of John Arthur Eaves’. A very old, established firm that doesn’t advertise.
LOL at the thought of any Mississippi politician criticizing pork barrel spending.
Hey Doug
It is apparently my very sad duty to report that we have been saddled with four more long years with that worm farmer from Rienzi as our house speaker.
I would love to know who the liars were who signed pledge cards for Smith and then voted for McCoy. Final vote was 62-60 for McCoy.
Maybe the firm doesn't advertise. But let's not be naïve about Ronnie himself.
The Daily Corinthian printed who was for and against McCoy. I guess we have four more years of local oppressive, backwards, and pork barrel legislation. McCoy is arrogant and unyielding when anything that comes up from anyone but of whom he approves.
