Let me sum up.
Liberalism is about emotion. They want to “feel good” about government. And it is always about spending other people’s money and having the rules not apply to them.
Conservatism is about what works. They want things to work and get rid of things that do not work (to many - this seems cold). They are also more than happy to pony up their own money and live under the same rules.

Someone once said something like "What is conservatism? Is it not adherence to the tried and tested rather than the new and untried?"
