Although my grandmother isn't asking for a lot of money -- just a few hundred dollars This doesn't make any sense. He's worried that his grandmother is going to spend a few hundred dollars on something he and his wife would never spend it on. I wonder how many fancy NYC restaurants he and his wife have attended and spent at least that in one evening.

It's quite another for someone else to ask for my money to do that.
