I think Fred makes a excellent point. In an effort to be first with the news, the networks no longer check or confirm stories...they just run with them.

It is irresponsible.

He says it cost him points in Iowa. He is probably right.

So, when they asked him "who started the rumor," he was justified to say that I don't owe you that answer.

Yeah...it was stpuid to ask him to name names when they didn’t bother to ask him whether to story was false or not. He’s right, he didn’t owe anything at all.
