So when the ad says, "Ron Paul salutes and supports our troops who protect and defend our freedom"--what does that mean?

It means exactly that.

I'm sorry that explanations over the Cold War or Vietnam couldn't fit into a 30-second ad.

So leave Vietnam out of it.

You can't simultaneously claim that the Iraq in war is fueling terror and that the troops in Iraq are defending our freedoms.

The two are mutually exclusive.

Paul believes our troops in the Middle East make us less safe. Saying otherwise is utter bullsh*t.
