Duncan Hunter Soldiers On Despite Iowa Results
NPR ^ | 1/5/08 | staff

He is the invisible man of the 2008 presidential campaign. Next to him Rep. Ron Paul looks over covered by the media. Yet California Rep. Duncan Hunter continues to campaign in New Hampshire, despite not even winning a single percentage point in Iowa last night. Although Democratic Senators Joe Biden and Chris Dodd who left the race last night, or Rep. Tom Tancredo who did two weeks ago, Hunter says he plans to continue his quixotic quest for the Republican presidential nomination.

"He is forging ahead using tried-and-true tactics for New Hampshire, albeit on a small scale given his meager campaign finances," Copley News reports. "Although he is essentially skipping today's Iowa caucuses and is overshadowed by just about every other candidate here, Hunter continues to talk of placing third - at least - in this state's first-in-the-nation primary on Tuesday."

"The only thing that stands between us and high numbers in the polls right now are media coverage and money," he said.

Perhaps.

Money would certainly help his quest. Although he has raised around $1.9 million overall, he has about $132,000 on hand, and is unlikely to raise more after his non-finish in Iowa last night. And he's not going to get much media exposure, considering he has been excluded from the two televised debates that will be happening over the next few days in New Hampshire.

"My motto in politics is never complain," Hunter said. "My trademark for 26 years has been, 'Don't whine. Keep working' "

Duncan is like the trench diggers who think they should make more money than the boss because they work harder.

Success (Getting Nominated) = Work Hard + Work Smart

Ronald Reagan spent almost 20 years laying the ground work to become POTUS.

He would be a good president, I think that was his aim. Honestly, I hope he stays away from any administration of any of the rest of the candidates should it come to that. It appears the GOP will be running a moderate or moderate with liberal positions in the general election. If Hunter is not the nominee then that will be our choice. If they then lose the general election after all the compromises, then they are in deep trouble.

And Hunter started 39 years ago when he joined the fight in Vietnam.

Duncan Hunter is the only one with the knowledge and ability to make America stronger.

That and $1.25 will only get you a cup of coffee.

I got an email where Joseph Farah at WorldnetDaily just endorsed Hunter. I hope its okay to excerpt some of Farah’s article:

“Therefore, today I make a new, personal endorsement for the Republican nomination – Duncan Hunter.....

He’s my guy because on all the major issues facing this country, Hunter is right. And he is a proven leader who gets the job done....

Illegal immigration and border security: Duncan Hunter takes a backseat to no one on this issue.....

Threat of Islamo-fascism: Hunter recognizes the gravity of the war.........

Our cultural meltdown: Hunter rejects the madness of political correctness.............

The economy: Duncan Hunter will fight the mindless globalization .....

Matters of life and death: Hunter is steadfastly and consistently pro-life.....

The point is this: We don’t have to settle for less......”

Read the rest of the article at Worldnetdaily.

Hunter should stay in. Why quit...because the media and RINOs say so?

With the way the GOP race has become, this will be a brokered convention.

Exactly. Hunter has been in congress for 20 years and hardly a soul outside of FR and the blogworld know he even exists.

He is my first choice and is on the Primary ballot here in Texas. He has my vote.

If he does not make the top slot at the Repub Convention it will not be for his not trying. If this is the case I too hope he would be the VP choice. Should this be then my choice for the top slot would be Fred Thompson. If not Fred, well then I'm torn on the next but I say definitely not Rudy or Huckabee.

It will be interesting to see how the 'Top 3' roll out in NH and SC. I wonder that compared to the rest of the candidates Huckabee and Obama have gotten somewhat less real scrutinizing press coverage into the workings and financing of their campaign as the others did ... they got more 'anti' coverage. This may change after Iowa. One thing I see on Huckabee is he beat the conservative press and the MSM in Iowa. I don't have a answer for that unless it may be the younger voters. The MSM my no be smitten by these two and continue to help their wave. In all fairness the MSM has marginalized several of the candidates up to this point by considerably less press coverage.

I also wonder why the MSM and many pundits have over the years given so much importance to Iowa when they are not a true reflection of what the majority of Americans think. The same can be said of a couple other States. Iowa hasn't picked the 'standard bearer' at the convention since 1988 or earlier, if memory serves. Of course that could change too.

Oh well. Politics is interesting but never as a career. I think maybe 'Politicians' are the oldest profession ... taking all they can and giving little or nothing in return. (Not all just some.

Where the hell do you buy coffee?

None of the below are conservative!

They belong to democrat wing of the RNC
and will harm the USA as bad as their
left wing friends on the DNC ticket.

Rudolph William Louis Giuliani
Michael Dale Huckabee
John Sidney McCain III
Ronald Ernest Paul
Willard Mitt Romney

Which one of these losers are you going
to help flush America down the drain?

What a shame the public doesn’t get to hear all this good man has to offer.

He had the exact same opportunity and money that Huckabee had.
And look where Huckabee is now.
