Scientists like these make me sort of skittish about admitting I’m a scientist.

66 percent plus 53 percent = 119%. Journalists are our superiors.
67% plus 53% minus the 25% who believe in BOTH = 95%

66 percent plus 53 percent = 119%. Journalists are our superiors. I was thinking that too but later on he says 25% believe both, so considering overlaps that gets him off the stupid hook.

"I would worry that a president who didn't believe in the evolution arguments wouldn't believe in those other arguments either. This is a way of leading our country to ruin," added Omenn, who was part of a panel of "experts"... Oh, golly gee, what pure unadulterated horse...crap.

These ‘scientists’ do not do science every minute. This is especially true when they are attempting to do politics.

I think your thinking is a little bit too black and white. Are you suggesting that there are not legitimate questions about some god’s role in the creation of the universe, or that there are not legitimate reasons to teach the Bible even if it isn’t factually true when interpreted in the most literal sense?
May I suggest that you give the Bible a little more credit.

I’m really looking forward to Ben Stein’s movie that’s coming out on this subject.

The third President of these United States did not believe in miracles or the virgin birth and incorrectly (thankfully)predicted that the day would come when the virgin birth was viewed the same way as the mystical generation of Minerva from the head of Zeus.
But yes, this “scientist” is ridiculous. Evolution is a discernible fact in that the genome of populations are subject to change, some believe the theory that this might be due to natural selection, but there is no doubt that there is change. The same discernment cannot be made about global warming as atmospheric readings show a decline in temperature, ground based readings show an increase, and ocean temps are inconclusive (AFAIK). Even if the warming was definitive in all three measures, there is no evidence that would say this is anthropogenic or a result of our economic activity. This guy just did Science and Evolution no favors by linking an empirical Science to a ‘global climate model’ and the faith that some have that humans are bad and the earth is good; so humans MUST be harming the earth.

I don’t support huckabee nor do I believe in young earth creationism, but we have more to fear from test-tube totalitarianism than creationism.

So a Creationist president will bring about Armageddon? Judgment Day is nigh?
Now there's a Revelation!
Do they have proof of this, or are they taking it on faith?

I talk with a lot of science types - I don’t hear too many saying things as strong as America is doomed.
But they do recognize that almost all progress in civilization comes from science and a President who doesn’t believe in evolution (or atomic theory or acids and bases or electromagnetic theory or any core science) would never be able to set the right priorities.

Yup. I remember how an organization of psychiatrists (a very liberal profession, and generally a bunch of quacks in those days) issued a statement saying that Barry Goldwater was mentally unstable. The libs also assured everyone that Goldwater's election would bring war. Goldwater was defeated, and we got war all right--the no-win strategy of LBJ in Vietnam.

Even if the silly biases of this person were true - that someone who believes in creation is ‘against science’ - this would only be a threat to someone who believed that the executive branch of the US govt is the primary driver of scientific research.
