He obviously knows this is the year, 2008, and we are civilized now, lol! Some of us, anyway.
“YEs, as I thought, Romney never has dissed another candidates religion for votes. Unless I missed the whore or harlot speech?
He obviously knows this is the year, 2008, and we are civilized now, lol! Some of us, anyway.”
What bothers me the most about this whole mess is that once again the GOP is being portrayed as full of bigoted zealots. And sadly, there are FReepers that are promoting that appearance.
What? So if a David Duke type candidate held membership in the KKK but stayed quiet about specific racist tenets of the KKK, that's OK with you?
But a good try by you. Journalists who've spoken to those in the Romney campaign assure their readers that Mitt Romney is no "cafeteria" Mormon (meaning a pick & choose whatever parts of his faith he wants). [And when these journalists say this, they mean it as a compliment to him].
Mitt Romney said almost a month ago in his Mormon faith speech that he "will not...disavow one or another of its (faith of his fathers) precepts...I believe in my Mormon faith...I will be true to them and to my beliefs."
So, since he says he "will be true...to my beliefs," the most prominent LDS belief is the 100% "apostasy" of the Christian church--the Church supposedly spiritually laid to rest by the one Romney is a disciple to--Joseph Smith. (Without a Mormon-version 100% Christian apostasy, no need for a Mormon restoration.)
As for dissing another candidate's religion, he already has done that by not disavowing vital components of his faith. And by doing that, he not only indirectly disses us, but alienates his voter base.
He obviously knows this is the year, 2008, and we are civilized now, lol! Some of us, anyway.
This is like saying "Yeah, we all know Candidate A is an open sado-masochist, but as long as he doesn't describe to us what he actually does in bed, then that's our definition of what being 'civil' is."
