Che Kennedy, Chavez’s useful idiot

WASHINGTON (Map, News) - John F. Kennedy would no doubt be horrified to see his nephew self-righteously shilling for a tin-horn communist dictator like Venezuela's Hugo Chavez. JFK was a liberal on most domestic issues, but on foreign policy, he was an ardent anti-communist.

Countless movies and documentaries have been made about Kennedy's shining moment, the Cuban Missile Crisis. That was October 1962, when he forced Premier Nikita Khruschev to blink first and withdraw the Soviets’ nuclear-tipped missiles from Marxist dictator Fidel Castro’s Cuba, just 90 miles south of Florida.

Today, there is nothing at all bright about the way JFK’s nephew Joe – named after the oldest Kennedy son, who died bravely fighting the Nazis – is prostituting the family name on behalf of one of Castro’s closest allies and an avowed enemy of America.

Joe Kennedy appears in radio and TV spots offering low-income Americans a 40 percent discount on a one-time delivery of up to 200 gallons of heating oil. "Help is on the way," a Windbreaker-clad Kennedy promises in the ad, "from Citgo and our friends in Venezuela." He never mentions Chavez, nor does he explain why Venezuela, with a 2007 per capita gross domestic product of just $6,900 (less than Croatia or Belarus) would send highly discounted oil to a country with a per capita GDP of $43,500. ................................................

Rep. Connie Mack, R-Fla., described Kennedy - a former congressman who was born into the family fortune and now heads the non-profit Citizens Energy Corp. – as "a public relations prop for the Chavez regime."

I laugh every time I see that commercial. “Citgo, owned by the people of Venezuela”.

So let’s get this straight. Extremely poor Venezuelans are taxed to send cheap oil to somewhat poor Americans in a deal that enriches an extremely wealthy Kennedy to the tune of 400k a year.

What’s the problem?

I saw that TV ad this morning...it runs regularly on FNC. In other Kennedy news:

READY TO RUN

January 2, 2008 -- ROBERT Kennedy Jr. has reportedly become an adviser to Russian President Vladimir Putin on cleaning up the environment. Kennedy, now in Aspen with his family, is said to have offered Putin his expertise in cleaning up the terrible pollution in Russia during a trip to Moscow last year. The founder of Riverkeeper also told restaurateur Nello Balan he's interested in running for Sen. Hillary Clinton's seat when it becomes vacant. Kennedy is convinced that if Clinton doesn't win the presidency, she'll quit the Senate when her term expires and join the private sector.

I just shake my head when I see this commercial and how blatantly inaccurate it is as well as pandering.
An aside: Dang Kennedys do not age well.

I saw the TV spot on New Year's day and he kept saying to "Call Joe", but he didn't tell me what to call him.

I settled on Robotic Idiot.

My column on this subject will be on-line at The Malden Observer tomorrow morning.
Did you know the Kennedys own TWO oil companies?

These commercials set me off to no end.

Did you ever think you’d see the day that propaganda sponsored by an enemy regime would be openly aired in this country?

I can only liken it to the Russians sending over grain to feed “America’s hungry” at the height of the Cold War and then airing an ad on network television congratulating itself for its generosity.

Shame on the networks that air this tripe and on Joe Kennedy for sullying his already checkered family name.

I believe Carolyn Kennedy is the only one of the bunch earning her money, like her brother did, in the dreaded private sector.

The JFK legacy should be his blunders along with our intelligence that allowed the Russians to actually have had the missiles in place to start with. This Kennedy brain that everyone sees just shows how dumb we Americans are. JFL sold out in the Bay of Pigs and I will always believe that is why He was killed. I believe the only reason Bin Laden hasn't been killed is because our intelligence is afraid of what would happen to Bush the same reason Clinton did not give the CIA the go ahead.

Kennedy didn’t found Riverkeeper. He worked for them as part of his probation and then used Kennedy money to take it over. I believe others that have done this while serving a sentence were charged with racketeering.

Why in the hell are people in the Northeast still using fuel oil for heat? I realize that laying a natural gas pipeline network is difficult due to geological/soil conditions - but why haven’t these been switched to some form of refillable (i.e., tank) natural gas fuel? I’d love to hear the ex-heroin addict explain the environmental advantages of burning fuel oil over natural gas.

They split the Nonprofit into 2 companies, One is a “for profit firm”. That is why he never ran for Gov. of Ma. he would have had to release his financial records and they would show how much money he grabbed out of the nonprofit side.

I think he’s the guy who showed up in DC at 3 AM to vote, suffering the negative effects of too much of grandpa Joe’s sauce, and had a problem trying to get the car to jump over the barrier.

He's got his own category now. "Communist propaganda enabler".

His Nazi grandfather would be very ashamed of him.

No, that was the drug addicted Congressman from RI. Fat Ted’s son Patrick. Joe is the one who was drunk, flipped his Jeep down the Cape and paralyzed a woman for life.

Those problems are minor compared to obtaining right-of-way and surviving the environmental impact study phase.
