Alan Keyes: The Right Man for Our Times
American Chronicle ^ | 01/02/2008 | Felicia Benamon

Posted on 01/03/2008 7:49:11 AM PST by Brian Sears

As a Christian conservative, I have made the conscious decision to support Alan Keyes for president. Mr. Keyes closely mirrors what I'd like to see in our next president. I do hold in high esteem a candidate who will acknowledge, and has ALWAYS acknowledged, Almighty God as our nation's up-lifter and helper.

Alan Keyes recognizes our nation and Founding Fathers' reliance on Almighty God that is evidenced in the Declaration of Independence and other historic documents.

A statement on www.AlanKeyes.com reads:

Foremost among the Declaration principles that Dr. Keyes believes should guide interpretation of the Constitution are these:

1. All human beings are created equal and endowed by God with unalienable rights;

2. The purpose of government is to secure these rights; and,

3. No government is just or legitimate if it systematically violates these rights.

Adhering to the above self-evidently true ideals — Dr. Keyes believes — would go a long way to preventing misapplication of the Constitution, or otherwise abusing the Founders' intent when they framed our government's basis for law.

If the Republican Party should focus on a true conservative, that person is Alan Keyes. By conservative, I mean someone with true conservative convictions, and not merely one who touts his conservatism as an elitist, straying from his positions on important issues.

Mr. Keyes remains humble yet passionate in all his affairs. Passionate in debates, people may think of him as a rogue as he gets fired up over the issues. But I believe Keyes's passion comes from a desire to alert Americans to a country that could be lost if we abandon our traditionally held values for a more secular viewpoint.

Recognizing this country's rich heritage in the Christian faith does not indicate a desire to push a theocracy. Our nation was founded on the freedoms to worship as one pleases. But there is certainly nothing wrong with supporting a Republican candidate who will stand up for traditional values that have recently been under attack in our nation.

Conservatives against big government/corporate elite

Conservatives in the Republican Party are fed up with big government and out of control spending. They are fed up with elite Republicans, RINOs (Republicans in Name Only) as some are called. So why would Republicans choose from among the top tier candidates who will likely continue with big government policies and fall in favor with the corporate elite? It's politics as usual and we have only ourselves to blame if we allow that to happen. Shouldn't we break up that cycle?

We the People have the choice, not the media, which chooses to ignore some conservative candidates and give constant coverage to others.

Alan Keyes has been cut out of debates and shunned by the media for a good reason. He is not part of the elite group of top tier Republicans.

The media will give attention to any Republican that will be just a bit compromising in their positions... someone who will be liberal enough that the media will feel comfortable with heralding as an opponent for the Democrat nominee and contender for the presidency.

In any situation, voters should choose candidates that closely fit their convictions. Conservatives should rightly pick a conservative candidate. Not merely one who is doing well in the polls or is popular.

I am convinced that the man needed for the times that we face in America today, is Alan Keyes. He is a man to awaken our spiritual apathy. He is a man who will remind us who we are and to urge us to meet challenges ahead with the help of Almighty God. Mr. Keyes is a man who embodies the spirit of the Reagan era.

Alan Keyes, a passionate man for our times. And a passionate president is what we need.

Alan Keys is a great man! I voted for him in the primary in 2000, but I will be voting for Duncan Hunter this year...

I love Alan Keyes. But he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of getting elected to any federal office unless he picks the most gerrymandered Republican district in the country and runs for Congress. Give him an appointed position in the next Administration.

When Hillary Clinton ran for Senate in New York in 2000, Alan Keyes said, “I deeply resent the destruction of federalism represented by Hillary Clinton’s willingness to go into a state she doesn’t even live in and pretend to represent people there.”

He then moved from Maryland to Illinois to run for Senate in 2004.

I lost all respect for Alan Keyes at that point.

Alan Keyes solidified himself in my mind when he ran for U.S. Senate here in Illinois. The stupidity of the Illinois GOP and laughable campaign of Keyes is what catapulted the empty suit Obama to fame. He is a bigger embarrassment to the GOP then Paul and the three libs at the top of the polls.

Alan Keyes is definitely a “true conservative”. He’s also a bit of a “whack job”.

Alan Keyes is a wonderful man, a great writer and a great orator. I would love to see him in a position of responsibility in the next administration. Second chance at UN ambassador?

What will Keyes really bring us but shaving off maybe a half a percent off of other candidates who are Conservative, letting a RINO take the lead. We know Keyes won’t take votes from RINOs.

How many times has Keyes run for President now? He keeps doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

He needs to start his own show. He has the wit and mental quickness.

I doubt any republican president would give him a position, except maybe Ambassador to Puerto Rico.

Alan Keyes' fiery rhetoric is what got me involved in politics, but it turns many off. He is a great statesman and addresses many important truths, but appears to lack the organizational and leadership skills needed to run a successful campaign. Unless he can attract a top coordinator that will put up with his rough edges, he won't win a campaign.

Hopefully, he will withdraw and support a good candidate who will appoint him to a position that would make the most of his oratorical abilities.

I’ll be stunned if he manages to pull more than two or three percent in the caucuses.

If you want to really make a show somewhere, you should go after the few real Conservatives who have fallen for Ron Paul’s fraud. Many support Paul with the exception of his foreign policy stance, that would be a great place for Keyes to get an image known. Let the stormfronters and hippies stick w/ Paul and get the conservatives back in the fold.
