Ever so often, people forget and we end up with a "Carter". If people think things are bad now, wait for $150 oil, 12% unemployment, 23% interest rates, 12% inflation. Most of the people voting didn't live through Carter. Others are saying, "It couldn't happen again."
It DOES make a difference who you vote for.

You’re going to be in for a huge shock this year.Oh you mean when the loser of Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan, Wyoming, South Carolina, and Nevada emerges from the Great Pumpkin patch and wins it all on February 5th.
Then again maybe it was smart of him to skip such socially conservative places like New Hampshire and Las Vegas (/sarc)
