Algiers, 31 Dec. (AKI) - Lawmakers from the Algerian Islamic political party of al-Nahda have asked the government to intervene to slow down "the activities of Christian missionaries in the country".
Algerian MP Muhammad Hudeibi was quoted as saying this in the local el-Khabar newspaper.
"We want the government to cut down this type of activity because the expansion of evangelisation in Algeria has become an important problem and is not marginal as some think it is," said Hudeibi.
For some years, the local media in Algeria have reported on the activities of a number of missionaries, particularly those from evangelical and Protestant churches, who have succeeded in converting entire Algerian families to Christianity, particularly those who come from the eastern area of Kabilia.
"We condemn the government's silence with regard to this phenomenon," said the Algerian MP.
"We are collecting the signatures of other lawmakers in order to begin a discussion in parliament on this problem," he said.
"All 11 parliamentarians of al-Nahda have been mobilised, but we are convinced that others will also help us."
The Islamic party also asked the Algerian ulema or Islamic scholars and imams to give their opinion on the issue of Christian evangelism.

The Islamic “leaders” and demagogues, now full well that their violent death cult can’t compete with Christianity’s message of love and hope.

Or music in church for that matter. Orthodoxy would probably have held on a tad longer if they'd brought in new composers, better choirs and larger organs.
Islam simply cannot compete with such things.

That's why they don't allow any other religions in countries like Saudi Arabia. In countries where Christians still are somewhat tolerated (like Iran & Egypt), they are dhimmified, and can't evangelize.

Islamic music such as the nasheeds & even tarteel & adhan are beautiful to me because they sound very similar to my people’s chantings & songs.

I don’t think Condi would want that. She has some oilfields named after her.

Music from Islamic countries is not "Islamic Music". Indeed there are beautiful musical traditions in Arabic, Iranian and Turkic countries, which have their roots before or despite orthodox Islam. Also muawiyah was referring to music within the church/house of God. There is no music in the mosque...

Islamic music simply means religious Muslim music. The tradition that is near & dear to me is the Arabic tradition because those are my roots. Music is haram, but the
tarteel &
adhan are still musical, whether they want to call it music or not. I've met Muslims who call it "Islamic music," although they're not supposed to. Here's a
nasheed. These quarter tones sound very similar to the sounds coming from our (Mizrahi) synagogues.
