Well, this should put to rest the Thompson arguments that he's too much of a dud. Thompson's in warp drive compared to McCain.

I think Fred’s 19% is a typo. I’s probably supposed to be 10%.

Why is Fred listed last at 19%?
Seems to me thats a statistical tie for 1st with McCain and Judy Annie

Because it is a typo. Read the
Pew poll yourself. Fred is no longer even in double digits. He's barely an also ran at this point. Way to go Fred. That's what he gets for not running as a serious candidate on his national security credentials.

Wasn’t Fred at 22% a couple months back? 9% is a freefall.

This is a poll of registered voters, not of likely voters.

It indicates to me the sad state of the party. If Fred’s a dud, McCain has been downright comatose and should be lower than Fred. As of yet I’ve heard no real good reason as to why McCain is doing so well.

“Ive heard no real good reason as to why McCain is doing so well.”
Only because of the support from the MSM.
To: Parley Baer
I think McCain is doing well now for the same reason Guiliani was before; GOP voters want someone they think can beat Hillary in the general election.
To: Jaguarmike
I agree and believe McCain would do more to counter lying BS then turn his back. My preferences lie with Thompson and Hunter but traction they get not.

Perhaps, but the base wouldn’t turn out for McCain, providing for a Hillary landslide. Like others, I believe the Media is flexing it’s muscles here, trying to get Hillary elected before the General Election.
To: counterpunch
He's barely an also ran at this point. Dittos. My thoughts exactly. As a Thompson supporter I have become underwhelmed with Fred's campaign. If he can't even fire up Republicans how could he fire up independents and even conservative dems to vote for him. There's just no fire there. He was the front runner on Oct 1 and has pissed it away.
To: Free Vulcan
The poll was conducted from 12/19 to 12/30, so it’s almost old news before it’s even completed.

He pissed it away by not seizing the mantle as the national security expert with his various chairmanship credentials.

Which doesn’t explain why McCain is suddenly doing so good. McCain was the front runner, pissed it away, and he’s been nonexistent for months. Now he’s surging.
