The latest news from Iowa? According to Zogbys latestand I quote: Sen. Fred Thompson has seen a late-breaking surge. (Rich notes the same poll below.)
Whats going on here? My guess is that there are whole lot of Iowa Republicans who have about the same attitude that David Limbaugh displayed in his column yesterday:
Fred is the only [candidate] I don't have major reservations about
.I find his lack of "fire in the belly" refreshing. He strikes me as one of the few presidential candidates since Ronald Reagan whose primary motivation is not personal aggrandizement but rather serving and leading the nation in very troubled and dangerous times. I see him as almost being drafted into this project, and his refusal to drool publicly over the prospect of becoming the most powerful man in the world is positively delightful.

Better git while the gittin’ is good, bray’s on your case now!!
Fred, in a cowboy hat, smiling and strolling out of his campaign van in a driving snowstorm is about the best way to describe it.
Lazy campaigner my ass.
GO FRED GO!!!!
That’s one of my FAVORITE lines from ANY song!
Take me to your leader. Is it Huckles or Romney? Either way you must be disillusioned. I think you may be lost, you should go through the door on the left marked Democrat. The people you should be supporting have names like Clinton, Obama and Edwards. Leave the Republican ticket to us conservatives please.
I read it somewhere maybe 2 days ago. It might be just some manufactured ‘quotes’ from Thompson.
I think he can still stay in if he beats expectations, which means finishing within single digits of two frontrunners in Iowa. Since this can prove he has some momentum, and voters are starting to doubt both Mitt and Huck.
If Fred finishes in 3rd with double digits loss, he will not be able to survive.
Well I think I can speak for most on this thread when I say: Excuse the F out of me...I failed to recognize your credentials. U.S. Army Retired |
Tossup,
Which Democrat Candidate are you supporting? BTW, welcome to Free Republic.
Iowa, after what I’ve seen this year, seems to be more a test of candidate promotional systems in Iowa than it is any indication of which candidate really has any kind of lead nationally.
I’m not naive enough to think that those two things are unrelated, but caucusing and voting are two very different things in my mind.
:) Pleased to paraphrase on behalf of a great man!
Faulty logic. Huckabee’s overall support is dropping.
If Fred shows well, SC will know they have another choice.
I expect Fred to place a strong 3rd, which is fine, or maybe even tie [finish very close] with Huckabee for second place. I think Romney will pull off first place because his money did at least buy him a very good organization which will get out his vote. However, I don’t think it will be enough to save him nationally.
No one knows but I do believe that Huck is on his way down while Fred is on his way up. Whether there is time, who knows?
Please abide by the First Rule Of Holes!
I see, so applying the same principle: If hill-the-beast finishes 3rd she's out of the running too?
Fred's been ignored -- and bashed by most of the MSM for the last couple of weeks -- for him to be surging at all is a miracle.
Go Go.
I’ll be voting for Fred in the MI primary.
You go Fred, leave all the phoneys behind. Take on the other non descript winners like Hunter in your camp.
Do you know Fred that you and Duncan are a totally winning ticket?
I am amazed how many ON THIS BOARD are just dancing to the media’s tune. Some freepers decry the media in one breath, and base their whole thinking on it at the same time.
Wake up folks; the reason you’re hearing nothing about Fred is that they know he can run over them all like a Hummer.
I will be caucusing for Fred tomorrow night. I have not answered polling calls except 2. The first poll said it was paid for by Ron Paul at the end. The second poll only asked if I was voting for Huckabee, Romney. or McCain and appeared to be a push poll against Romney. I refuse to answer any more polls. I suspect there are many undetected votes for Fred in the polling.
