I work with Hispanics and even one of Native American descent who REFUSE to classify themselves as Mexican or Native American. The Native American was denied a job promotion and I asked him to challenge it since he was 1/2 Indian. He said his past performance and other qualities should have been the deciding factors, not his ancestry. I have much more respect for him ever since he made that remark.
