The New Rules of Marriage

Of course, there is much to disdain about The New Rules of Marriage, but what offended me most was its pervasive celebration of inequality amongst the sexes. Women want more out of relationships today so…men must give it to them. Why is that the case? In every equitable transaction, the side who asks for more must offer more in exchange. This leads us to ask, what do modern women offer men that is superior to what their predecessors proffered in the past?......

“I see it everyday and it makes me sick. Men are controlled by their wives. They are terrified of their wives. They are portrayed as bumbling idiots and their wives must do everything for them like they are ten year old boys.”

Sounds like my idiot uncle.

Only thing is he’s a flaming liberal Harvard grad “environmental engineer” mama’s boy with BDS who has about as much common sense as a lemming.

While you may in fact think that the concept should apply to both, the author says it applies to men...as pointed out by the reviewer.

Ah - so if the reviewer says this concept can never be applied to both parties in a marriage, it can't be.

My own marriage doesn't have these problems. The author underestimates both men and women in the quotes you provide. Your marriage is as fair, and rewarding, - and fun - as YOU make it. Ignore the advice of the malcontents and troglodytes. Works for me, I'm going to start with you. :~)

I heard that more men are not getting married, my son for instance. They can get what they want by having a number of “friends with benefits”. That is not what I want. I want a good wife that cares but it seems that some women want more and more and soon they will be spinsters and blame men for their folly.

And that's different than you blaming "women" for your circumstance how?

Hey, I saw some of these comments just now and wanted to recommend Mike LaSalle’s reading of the Women’s Real Man which covers some of the subjects here. An Excellent listen:

Hit paper, I saw some of the comments to the New Rules of Marriage piece. I wanted to recommend Mike LaSalle’s reading of the Women’s Real Man to you covers some of the subjects here. Oftentimes when men stand up to women they question their manhood. This is predictable, common and fallacious. Anyway, check out this excellent listen:

Of course, if it doesn't exist in your own experience, it doesn't exist, right?

Wow.

I’m sure you will find a study from the other perspective very informative. Check out the book or audiobook “Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls” by Rachel Simmons.

It doesn’t relate to men per se, but it is a fascinating study of the methods of “alternative aggression” employed by women on each other from childhood on.

Once a man knows what he’s looking at when women attack, the sight is actually fairly pathetic.

No... But because some people have problems in their marriages doesn't mean I have to incorporate those problems into my own.

This article? I know it isn’t about me. But then neither are your problems, whatever they may be. What, exactly, is your problem with me again?

The freeest milk you’re going to find is in a whorehouse. All other women have figured out how to make you pay in other ways that in the long run is far far more costly than the whorehouse.

But, the problem with whorehouses is...you gets what you pays for...

Look at her home page. You should have your head examined for discussing anything even remotely resembling “the war between the sexes” with a horsey-girl. Horsey-girls are the least logical and most arrogant and most tireless male-bashers of all the fairer sex.

I know of what I speak. I dated a horse loving jane fonda worshiping square dancing know it all for a year and a half. The freakiest part is she even looked enough like miss doghair to be her sister.

I couldn't say. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt.

I would say it's ironic that she perfectly illustrated the point of the review.
