In a speech this afternoon in central Iowa, Barack Obama seems to have widened his criticism of the politics of the past to encompass not only Hillary Clinton but John Kerry and Nobel Laureate Al Gore.

Making an argument for his electability, Obama said, "I don't want to go into the next election starting off with half the country already not wanting to vote for Democrats -- we've done that in 2004, 2000."

He doesn’t seem to realize that half the country doesn’t want to vote for The Brother From Another Planet™, either.

Your comment got me to go look. Considering Nixon’s resignation, Carter still had to work for it:

CARTER,
Pop. Vote: 40,830,763 (50.1%)

FORD
Pop. Vote: 39,147,793 (48.0%)

I wouldn’t vote for him, but I like Obama.

His health care plan is the least offensive of the ‘rats. He seems the most honest, what with Hillary and Edwards giving off an intolerable stench of corruption.

He may be th most honest; but so was Jimmy Carter, one of the worst 3 Presidents of the last century (along with LBJ and Roosevelt).

Sometimes a well intentioned Dummycrat is worse than a sleazy rat-- at least the rats have enough political sense to avoid endangering the country directly because it polls badly.

Obama needs to wake up to the reality that LESS THAN HALF of the nation voted for the Democrats. Many voters stayed home (Democrats did not get their vote) and many other voters voted GOP, Green, Libertarian, etc. etc.

It’s the RINOs and Countryclubbers mostly behind Romney.

Excellent point: Obama and Jimmy Carter both seemed honest. Honest men are sometimes fools or worse. And Obama has a record of seriously bad/wrong judgements.

Carter was not only (in my view) the worst President in US history, he is the worst ex-President in US history,

As we like to say in our house, there are two wings of the Democratic Party: the communist wing, and the crooked wing. A Crooked Democrat who isn’t a commie (good example: Mayor Richard M. Daley of Chicago) is smart enough to realize that Marxist policies will put a dent in the graft and kickbacks they can collect.

Carter definitely gets the Bozo award for being the biggest left-wing buffoon among ex-Presidents.

Just think if he had won in 1980, how we would be celebrating end of Cold War, tovarisch.

Actually, Gore got 50% (plus fumes) in 2000.

Perhaps he’s shooting for a higher goal, like alienating 3/4 of Americans.

Obama is trying to give the sane 50% of the voters (if there are that many) the impression that he would be a conservative Democrat, when in fact he’s really a dangerous socialist.

Dangerous Muslim Apostate Socialist

SEE!! It was easy to fix that!!

Hey Obama, it’s the liberalism that alienates the country. You cannot avoid it with glad-handing, smiles and empty-suit rhetoric once you get away from mindless Democrats and get to thinking America.

I'm stunned that he got that much. Jerry Ford was so bumbling he let Jimmah even have a chance.

Obama would alienate more people than Gore or Kerry. But Hillary would alienate more than Obama. Either one as president would signal to the world that America is in serious decline.

They’d be rolling on the floors laughing at us in China and in the Islamic world.
