Dennis, I will never use one either. They are ugly, they are filled with mercury, and the light is ugly too. Looks like we’ll have to be importing them from somewhere, tho, as of 2014.
Maybe you and I should grab all we can, warehouse them for 2014, and then sell them at 200%. Say, wait, I bet someone is doing just that. AlG??
Good idea. I think I’m in business!
I hate the nasty light off the twisty bulbs. I also think the mercury poisoning aspect is criminal.
For centuries man has read by firelight, by candle light, by torch light, by oil lamp, by kerosene lantern. The incandescent bulb comes closest to duplicating that yellowish light. I kept full spectrum 40" fluorescents in the kitchen because I like the retro combination of Formica countertops and fluorescents. I'm not impressed by granite countertops and fancy kitchen lighting because I know that nine times out ten not too much cooking is going on in that $20,000 remodel kitchen and when there is, it is semi ridiculous food
Actually, I use them in several lamps. They're fine with the right lampshade. But I also have a dozen lights or so with dimmers and I'll be damned if I'll give them up.
As the date draws nearer, I'll begin to stock up on incandescents and eventually will have more of them in the pantry than Elaine had sponges.
I suspect the greenie organizations have already worked out a scheme to profit handsomely from "envirowacko-approved" Gaia-friendly incandescent bulbs - sold for several times the pre-ban price of course.
