Uhoh, so does this mean I have to wear jeans and a long-sleeved shirt for a few weeks? Socks, maybe... too.

It'll give my summer/spring uniform of cargo shorts, Chuck Taylors and band t-shirts a rest, I guess.

Damn that global warming, I mean cooling... I MEAN CLIMATE CHANGE!

I remember that time — some of my friends in high school had father’s who owned groves. They used to tell me about having to tent the trees and keep little smudge pots burning (they’d give off just enough heat). Still, some lost a majority of their crop. It was a tough year.

Like I have always said, leave a pot of water on the burner long enough it will freeze.

In the 1930’s through the 1950’s there was citrus growing all the way up to the Georgia and Alabama state lines in Florida. Then the climate began cooling and pushed the citrus belt back down to around Ocala. The 1984-85 winter pushed it even farther south.

One thing I've noticed lately is a lot of groves have been sold up here (in Orlando) for housing developments. I used to ride through several on the West Orange bike trail up here, and in the last few years they've been razed. I guess the business here just isn't what it used to be.

Damn that Global Warming... I mean... cooling... uh... ;-)

I do miss riding past the groves though, they would smell heavenly -- and a fresh pilfered orange sometimes could work better than a Gu shot for the extra long rides.

That would make a good bumper sticker.

They just sold a huge grove near my house and made it into a Home Depot.

I miss the orange grove, but I least I don’t have to drive five miles to get building supplies anymore. :)

Sounds about right. This is close to the week the annual Boy Scout Campout at Disney World Fort Wilderness happens and it has been invariably (near) FREEZING weather for the past few years.

That’s the thing, though, isn’t it. Everything evens out.

I mean, where have my hurricanes been this year?

Everytime someone tells me how bad the hurricanes are due to GW, I just tell them the first settlements in FL in the 1500’s were abandoned because the hurricanes were so bad.

Per acre, citrus is a very valuable crop. I can remember one family living off 10 acres. Oranges and limes can bring $6,000 per acre or more. But eventually the value of the land for real estate exceeds its agricultural value and the grower sells to a developer.

It’s going to get cold here in SC also. I want my warm weather back

Here in the Palm Springs area, we haven't even gotten up to 60 for the past week or 10 days. Lows in the upper 30's.

I just hope we don't get a snap like we did this past January 15, when we got down to 25...unheard of around here, and the frozen citrus trees showed the effect for months.

Great, we leave for Orlando on Friday.

You'll be alright. Cold snaps are short-lived and we should be back in the 70s for the weekend.

Keep that nutcase out of Florida. Everytime he shows up somewhere for a speech, a blizzard follows him!

It was a record -24 at my house that winter. I remember it well, as the oil lines burst and I got to chop wood most of the night.

I have this crazy idea that a lot of globalist warmers know we are going into a cooling cycle, so they are pushing their scam as hard as they can, while they they can. Even the most gullible suckers of globalist warming will tune out the propaganda when their heating bills keep going up.
