I am curious as to your take/intrepretation of Daniels 70 weeks to current or about to be current times. Feel free to comment on this either in the open forum or in a private reply.
I'll try to post the "Reader's Digest" version of Daniel's 70 Weeks.
Many Biblical Scholars attempted to piece together the passage from Daniel Chapter 9. Sir Robert Anderson was the first to "Crack the Case". I say "Crack th Case", because Anderson, while a 19th century Bible scholar in his spare time, was also the chief of detectives for Scotland Yard.
He was able to "number the days" from the 1st of Nisan (as stated in Nehemiah Chapter 2 and the secular date of March 14, 445 B.C.) to April 6, 32 A.D.
... Actually I just found a link that explains it better that I can
here.
That site gives a brief explanation of his book, but you can order it from amazon. The name is, "The Coming Prince". I've taught a Bible study on this story and have added some clarity to the calculation by computing the solar year in decimal form, thus avoiding a lot of chatter you'll find people arguing about the number of leap years. The resulting calculation agrees exactly with Anderson's proposal.
I also point out the dramatic way Christ pointed out to the pharisees in Luke 19 that, "If you had known me,
THIS very day." What a powerful indictment, because he was saying that if they had known their own scriptures, then they should have expected Him that very day.
If you don;t have time to read the book, listen to Chuck Missler's audio here
Koinonia House - Daniel's Seventy Weeks. It is very good as is all of Missler's studies.
As to your question about the present day, all of these studies point out that Chapter 9 clearly discusses two distinct periods, the first of 69 weeks from Nehemiah Chapter 2 to Palm Sunday (Luke 19). The second period is the 70th week and is called the "Time of Jacob's Trouble", aka, the "The Tribulation". During that time, the antichrist will confirm/enforce an existing treaty between Israel and "many others". (By the way, my understanding is that the Oslo Accords was a seven year treaty yet has not been enforced yet). In the middle of that treaty, he will void the treaty and create the "abomination of desolation" in the west wing of the newly built temple as described in verse 27.
Much more to it and worth a dedicated study. By the way, I understand that Isaac Newton devoted much of his time in studying this remarkable prophecy. All that in 4 verses.
Hope this helps.

“Must not have been too serious if he was released from the hospital in just two days.”
The brain is a funny thing.
My son was admitted with traumatic head injury and underwent hours of delicate brain surgery.
The doctors marveled that he was not killed instantly from his injury.
They released him to go home within 3 days.
