Yes, but after they had offered the prize to the kid. I think that was a big mistake in timing. Besides, isn’t the media the one who discovered the false claim?

In this instance the prize is to be able to attend one concert on one night. It’s a six year old child. I’m going with my gut on this one, but I would acknowledge a case can be made to deny the kid. Six year olds don’t have much control over what their parents do, and I’d give the kid a break.

As for the children of illegal immigrants, they are asking that we give them a lifetime pass. Hell no.

I agree with that.

Her essay sucked. Even if her dad did die in Iraq, that essay was lame. My 2 year old niece could vomit something better.

Her dad did not die in Iraq. A check with the military turns up no one with that name is even in the service.

Of course the mother is the one to blame. Which is exactly why she should be forced to explain to her daughter the reason she won’t be seeing Hannah Montana.

The prize in this apparently was tickets for four, Mom would be going.

She deserves to be shunned. It is up to her to explain to her child why she was wrong, and take the blame for the reason the prize was given to another family.

Ultimately, I agree that this family doesn’t deserve to participate at this point. One thing that seems to have gone unaddressed here, is that this child is six. Why would she be a huge fan of Hannah Montana anyway? Is there something more age appropriate for a six year old?
