Then you haven't really been paying attention. I'm not French, except for my last name which comes from my 11th great-grandfather, a Huguenot settler in Neiu Amsterdam. In fairness, a perverse, irrational and annoying anti-Americanism has held sway in European thinking for only the last two and a half centuries of so. Probably out of envy for American freedom, prosperity and power. Like all irrational ideas, it leads otherwise reasonable people to think, say and do stupid things. But it has never been confined to France, nor has it taken hold of all the French.
