If we raised the legal driving age to 18, we’d be far from the only developed country to do so. Not that I’m necessarily recommending this. I’m just saying.

I’d be for it. From the age of 16 to 19, I was in 5 accidents and totaled 2 cars. Granted, 3 where not my fault. My 2 oldest kids did not start driving till 19, and neither one has had so much as a fender bender. My youngest is 17 1/2, and just about ready to get his learners permit. We live in the mountains with lots of narrow roads and steep canyons. We lose several teenagers a year flying off those canyons ( lost 1 just about 2 weeks ago, young girl just got out of high school last June), besides the usual drunks either getting killed, or killing someone else. Neither he nor I are in any great hurry for him to drive. The shuttle bus that travels round the lake and down the mountain work just fine.

I’m looking forward until my 13 year old can drive.
He’s a responsible kid, and I’m looking forward to him driving himself to school and other activities. I don’t like being a taxi for my 3 kids.
