For those who believe in miracles, there is the legitimate possibility that John McCain could win the Republican presidential nomination. If so, hell make Bill Clintons comeback kid of 1992 look like a piker.
Of course, the Republican senator from Arizona needs a series of events to break his way, but things are moving in that direction.
Remember, McCain entered the 2008 presidential race at the head of the pack.
But there was significant resistance to him in the grass roots, his early campaign was poorly managed and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani zoomed past in the polls while political insiders were declaring McCains candidacy as good as dead.
In addition, he was tarred with being the presidential fields perhaps biggest supporter of an unpopular war in Iraq, and then upset GOP conservatives on immigration.
By last summer, McCains campaign was broke, amid predictions of his withdrawal from the race. But was able to raise enough money to keep going, and the tide began to turn his way.

I respect McCain for his service and sacrifice for our nation. I don’t agree with his politics, however.
Then again, Fred makes it to the Big States he may turn his campaign around. An SC victory would also be nice to see.
Well, the whole game has changed. I don’t think you can turn a victory in South Carolina into anything that means anything.
It’s held January 19, and Super Duper Tuesday is only two weeks later.
You already have to be campaigning in all those states before you get any surge of funds from a victory or strong showing on the 19th.
We haven’t seen how this story plays out yet, but I think the moral of it will be who raises the most money before it starts, because after it starts, it’s too late. Folks like Duncan Hunter are doomed.
It is amazing that people on this site would say that they wouldn’t vote for a certain candidate under any circumstances, even if he is the Republican nominee.
We must pull together and support the Republican candidate whoever it turns out to be! If you don’t vote, you’re helping the democrats - and even the worst Republican candidate is better than the “best” democrat any day!
The Republican candidate needs every single vote!
The world didn’t come to an end when the Democrats got congress, we learned how to resist in other ways. Look at the Amnesty Bill this summer for example.
It’s amazing anyone anywhere would support McCain except his elite masters!

Norman, I trust you’ll ping the rest of your McCain list; I’ve addressed this post to the names I could see.
Antisocial, as you can see, I’m a man of my word.
So, since you would never vote for McCain in any situation, you would waste your vote due to ideals you believe in (which is fine most of the time) but then this means splitting the Rep vote and it becomes a slam dunk for Hitlery.
Yes, the world did not end with Dem control of Congress but she was not in power then. All we had to put up with were some lowlife Dem leaders pushing their agenda in Congress. Now the situation changes with folks like you who for principle would destroy even a slight chance of stopping her.
Sometimes you need the lesser of two evils when there is not real third choice.
I hurt myself LMAO at this sentence; come clean - this is The Onion or Scrappleface, isn't it?
McCain has played the role of democrat since the voters rejected him in 2000. Hillry Clinton has NO better friend anyplace than McCain. Soros did not could not fund what he has funded prior to McCain getting that dirty money out of politics.
Here is a McCain story where he is trying to up the Hillary ante on GOVERNMENT handouts.....

What’s the difference who’s president?
We just had a Republican president, with help of a Republcian senator, and many Democrats scrap the double layer fence on the border amongst the other things.
So now I will throw support to McCain who is part of that pro-illegal movement?
I dont’ think so!

If hes the nominee, the Republicans would have another Bob Dole moment.
Agreed, Clinton vs. Senior Citizen, again.
March 2005? Maybe you should take over responsibility of the ping list.
...”there is the legitimate possibility that John McCain could win the Republican presidential nomination”...
Not unless the majority of Americans who oppose amnesty have short memories.
Bates, where have you been? Your boy is surging big time and I’m having to defend him all over the board.
The pro-amnesty, anti-political free speech candidate will not get the Rep nomination. More MSM wishful thinking.
LOL - I’m coming off my Christmas slumber period! Sorry! Trying to get back ‘in’. :-)
I still think the McCain ship is sinking after drafting his illegal criminal amnesty legislation, and he STILL denys that garbage was amnesty!
I hope he will drop out soon and throw his support behind Fred.
Thompson/Hunter all the way!
