A lot of these "changes" and "conversions" are just temporary and NOT from the heart.

By and large, they are ginned up in back rooms by clever wordsmiths and marketing practioners as an outgrowth of their PR training and credentials. They sell these men like soap. I ain't buying much of it.

So far, the only one so far who seems grounded and sincere and unchanging (what you see is what you get) has to be DUNCAN HUNTER. Even if HE were elected, I would maintain my vigilence over him as well. Nobody escapes my standards in this regard.

There's nothing wrong with that, AIT. Leadership must ALWAYS be held to account. (Absolutely power corrupts absolutely.)

McCain...a man of integrity and conviction, a man who won't sell them out...

Won't sell us out? McCain has already sold us out.

No one who voted for that Amnesty bill, over all the opposition we mounted, deserves to get any conservative votes.

What is more, McCain won't be able to use illegal immigration against the Democrat in the general election.

The Real McCain

McCain: "Clean Government" More Important Than 1st Amendment [video]

Transcribed:

McCain: "He also mentioned about my abridgment of First Amendment Rights, i.e., talking about Campaign Finance Reform. My response to that criticism is I work in Washington and I know that money corrupts and I and a lot of other people were trying to stop that corruption and obviously from what we’ve been seeing lately we didn’t complete the job. But...I would rather have a clean government than one whose quote First Amendment Rights are being respected that has become corrupt....if I had my choice I would rather have a clean government......[chuckle]"

This is why I cannot vote for McCain. I don’t think that up there in NH these people have a CLUE what life is like for us in the border states (SoCal is so grossly negatively affected by illegals).

McCain has flip-flopped for years. He went to Iowa, and said he "had NO idea the people were so upset about illegal immigrants!"

He said he didn't know what happened to the money approved to build the fence that was approved by the Senate, written by Duncan Hunter.

McCain saying he doesn't know what happened to the money

IMHO, he is confused. (has the melanoma spread to his brain? I hope not.) But, not only is he confused, I suspect he will try to push his (and the swimmer's) amnesty bill in the dark of the night, as soon as he gets the chance.

He also shows a lack of class and dignity, like publically singing this song:

McCain singing Bomb bomb bomb Iran

It goes on and on. McCain lacks the respect and class required to be POTUS.

If it were between Thompson and McCain, I would take Thompson. There is a side of McCain that is too unpredictable. Thompson has a folksy nature that connects with people on a more comfortable level. This what I liked about Ronald Reagan. McCain on the other hand, has a cold nature that when put next to Clinton would turn voters off.

There are a lot of voters out there who are turned off with politicians who are compromised by the system. People want politicians who generate a feeling of trust. McCain has to convince voters that he is not entrenched in the Washington DC juggernaut. Being a senator has its negatives.

On the other hand, once people know that Fred Thompson left the Senate because of its dysfunctional rules, the more people will see him as in tune with what’s wrong with Washington DC.

"I do not think that I will ever understand the constant media assault on Mitt Romney."
As long as he is defeated, I am glad to accept the help of our enemies in the press this time.

Romney would be an utter disaster for the GOP in particular and the country in general.

Besides, he's never told the truth a day in his life!He is no conservative, heck he's barely a Republican. He's Bill Clinton without the sex crimes.

NH is very liberal. They must be really afraid of a Romney win.

Typical rectum comment from Mitt lover.

Next to the citizens of Massachusetts, I would think New Hampshirites would know Romney better than anyone since they’ve had to watch him perform as Governor. We conservatives only *suspect* Romney will back-stab us if elected.

Hey Tall Tex, I am from NH and Mitt has you fooled. He is the best "used car salesman" in this country. Go to post #14, The Eagle has nailed Mitt.

I am here in NH we have a very small CLUE, from our northern border with Canada, we are seeing the effects of the pressure being put on from your end of the country. This time of year we have open snowmobile trails where unless you have a GPS you can't tell what country you are in.

“Conservatives are coming home”

Coming home to McCain, the Democrats first pick for VP in 04, Conservatives are coming home to Mr. Amnesty, Mr. no tax cuts, Mr. anti-first amendment, Mr. Gang of 14. McCain actually makes Romney look conservative, and that is not easy to do.
