What say you head in the sand Romneybots?

Mitt is a NE Republican. How conservative he is depends on who you are comparing him against and which issues you are most concerned about. My main issues are taxes, immigration and WoT. On those issues he is talking a good game but his record is weak. Of course he ran a leftist state. Based on his record and overall I find him more liberal than Fred Thompson but more conservative than Giuliani or Huckabee and far more conservative than almost any of the dem candidates - again on issues I am focusing on. I support Fred now but he seems to be going nowhere so I may end up becoming a Mitt supporter after all or have to take another look at McCain. But my decisions will be based on comparative analysis not absolutes.

We all have opinions. :-)

Check the record. Romney did not raise taxes as Gov. of Mass.

And what, pray tell, did he do wrong on the War on Terror? What COULD he do in his position?

And lastly, his immigration stance was pretty good. Not perfect, but better than most politicians... given the fact that most Americans themselves only became strongly anti-illegal immigrant in the past few years.

You lay out your reasoning and the facts behind it very well. No candidate is perfect, that’s for sure, so comparative analysis is really the only way to go. Having said that, I don’t find the McCain or Huckabee record on taxes or much of anything else to be anywhere near as good as that of any of the other Republican candidates with a chance at the nomination.
