And in the Communist/Socialist/Stalinist dictatorships of Cuba, Venezuela & Nicaragua the poinsettia is virtually part of their holiday displays...

I downloaded the 12/23 show and all I heard at minute 23 was some Episcopelian agreeing with the host.

During his Sunday show (yesterday) Jerry, who is also Jewish, narrated the story about how it came about that he does not accept poinsettias (as gifts or otherwise) during the holiday season.

Jerry Klein is a first-rate jackass, and I'll be happy to tell Jerry and Chris Core that to their faces. I work with several very nice Jewish people and they don't have a problem with Christmas and its traditions. His attitude is exactly why the PC war against Christmas is ruining it for everyone.

You too, Silvie! I heard you call into Andy and Grandy (or was it Chris Core) one day last week. You really do have an elegant radio voice...!

Hey, Jerry! There are "Hanukkah poinsettias" available these days. White poinsettias spray-painted blue:

Maybe the management is still giving them to everyone BUT Jerry, and no one is telling him...

Heck, that’s what I’d do.

then just go ahead and give it to someone else - the gardener, your barber - someone else will enjoy and appreciate the gift.

Sorry, but you need re-education. Such an action could be construed as 'giving a Christmas gift'. That would be even more offensive to the Perpetually Offended Thinskins, than being merely offered one.

Such a suggestion might even provoke him to set fire...Oh; wait; I'm confusing this Perpetually Offeneded Thinskin with the other Perpetually Offended Thinskins.

So, we can say that Jerry, with his political correctness in all its glory, “ruined it for everyone”.

Actually, the management, bent over backwards to be inoffensive, ruined it for everyone. They could have simply given everybody except Klein poinsettias.

A similar incident occurrred in Kensington, MD in 2001. Santa Claus was banned there (he normally showed up for the lighting of the town Christmas tree) because a couple Jewish families complained. It turns out they would have been happy with a Menorah or some other Jewish symbol next to the tree, IIRC. But the town government went overboard, got rid of Santa, and renamed the tree a Holiday Tree or some such happy horsecrap. There was a major uproar involving, among many others, members of Free Republic, the Tyranny Response Team, a "Christian" motorcycle "club", and a well-known anti-Semitic nut who had nothing to do with the other groups.

Jerry probably isn’t an observant Jew. I have friends that are Jewish and they are generally very open minded and gracious people.

I believe that any decent and practicing Jew would accept the gift in the spirit that it is offered. It is not meant to be offensive - anybody with common sense would know not to be offended.

Having had the misfortune to have heard his program, it appears that Jerry is even more crass than I had expected.
He has no class.

I’m sure he is very pleased to know my low opinion of him. That’s the kind of person that he is.

I am not sure if this is true or just one of those urban legends, but I heard that one of the biggest nurseries that sell poinsettia’s is a big funder of Planned Parenthood.

ENCINITAS, January 16, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Many pro-life organizations use Christmas season sales of poinsettias to raise funds, but according to a US-based researcher, so do Planned Parenthood and other abortionists in the US. James Hartline, a Christian activist in California wrote to LifeSiteNews.com warning that the poinsettias decorating the churches and homes of Christians in the US could easily originate from a family-owned business that has been supporting abortion for decades.

The Ecke Ranch in Encinitas, California, supplies 70% of all of the poinsettias sold in the United States and the Ecke family is among the most generous supporters of Planned Parenthood and long-time political activists for the abortion movement. The Ecke family features prominently in the major donors list in the fall 2005 edition of the San Diego/Riverside County Planned Parenthood Newsletter.

These people live in darkness.

Someday (hopefully) some of them will awaken.

A shame for the ones that will not.
