A German man with a Hitler obsession has been jailed for five months for teaching his pet dog to perform a Nazi salute, according to the British tabloid The Sun.
The paper reports that the dog, named Adolf, had been taught by owner "Roland T" to lift his paw sharply into the air when he heard the words "Heil Hitler." The former car salesman was reportedly caught after he boasted of the trick to police.
Performing a Nazi salute is outlawed in Germany, as is Nazi insignia and Holocaust denial.
According to The Sun, "Roland T" planned to have Adolf put to sleep to mark the anniversary of Hitler's suicide in 1945.

Let me be clear. I don’t take literal adherents to the Nazi party line as a modern threat. The modern threat is any deadly ideology sold as a salve to the disaffected masses by a charismatic leader.

What was done was done.
There are lots of post WWI villains, including Wilson, the French and the English. There is a very good argument to be made that Stalin had a great deal to do with the mess as well.
What an odd story. If the dog is the one doing the salute, and he’s in doggy jail then all is right in Germany. Why is the owner incarcerated? LOL.
Imprisonment seems excessively intolerant in this case.
The soviet communists murdered more people than the Nazis. Perhaps we should imprison anyone who has anything favorable to say about communism. That seems like a similar standard. A lot of liberal Democrats would go to jail by that rule.
It’s a silly story but they take this seriously because Hitler destroyed Germany not to mention anything within cannonshot.
Than there is no danger in contemporary Germany anymore. We neither have charismatic leaders anymore nor deadly ideologies that are alive except of Islam. Islam (which is seen as such a danger to Europe in the US) has absolutely no attraction on native Germans. Although we have roundabout 3.000.000 Muslims in Germany only 4.000 native Germans of a population of 80.000.000 converted last year. This is practically nothing.

That and they like to pretend their grandparents were all in the Resistance (like the French and Spanish).
The US always followed a policy of generosity since it was the most intelligent thing to do. The Marshall plan i.e. paid out a thousand times and provided peace and happiness for a long time. The legacy of this generosity lives on since Europeans like me still identify the US with being something "good". :)
But I suspect the irony is lost on the German authorities.
And the history of the Indians in the U.S. is not comparable to the Holocaust. That is an ignorant statement.

Yes, really. I stand with Owl558, you come off like a total nutcase with your out of control rant to the German poster. Naming a dog adolf and teaching it to salute should not be a crime in any country. I only hope we can hold off the Gestapo in America long enough to turn things around and become a country of our constitution again. This post needs levity because the implications of a police force that would arrest someone for this type of thing is the true evil, thought crimes unlimited, not the naming of a god and teaching it tricks(regardless of how tasteless the trick).
Post 56: naming of a god, should be naming of a dog. Need to proof read better.
