His “get out now” approach... quite simply... it’s wrong.
I think we all realize that we can’t stay there at these levels forever, just because of financial restraints. However, the surge is working, and very well too. Yes, there will always be attacks, but the key is to stabilize the situation, which is being done now. To just cut and run now makes no sense. We’re close, no doubt about it, but not quite there yet.
I must say though, the surge was the smartest change in course I’ve seen yet since this operation began.
Of course we have to stay the course in Iraq.
If we do in about two years(a guesstimate) we will have routed the AQ's, wannabe terror types and other radicals to the point where the locals can take over.
Petraeus was just flabbergasted that Iraq has put forth 160,000 more troops, police etc. in the past year, he says they are a mixed batch some good some not so good but overall they are coming along and one day will be able to police their own.
But you are absolutely right. We should never listen to the dem/rats and try and snatch defeat out of the arms of victory.
