At least with Clinton you could just pay a few thousand bucks. Jorge is too principled for that.

Don't you kid yourself. He talks a good talk, but his actions don't bear out what his lips proclaim! He's a liar, and a traitor! He is destroying America, and the lives of millions of people for generations to come! His legacy will be one of shame and people will despise him. I already do! I regret the day I voted for him. Twice!!

I'm good thank you and thanks for remembering me! ;-) Those were fun times (back in the late 90's when the LA area FReepers were politically active with pro-2A rallies, and being in the studio audience of Maher's Politically Incorrect). It has been a while, I took a leave of absence from this site for a few years.

And yeah, about Bush... I had doubts from the get-go about his allegiances, but I have given him the benefit of the doubt. And I hope (by some miracle) that he does the right thing in this case, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

#61 .” Perhaps the young Bush, during his wild yute, did some embarrassing things down Mexico way, and now is completely, quite literally pwn3d by ... Mexico.”

Lots of speculation about that here, but after 7 years in office it seems that would have come out sooner- Either a DimRAT would have leaked it, or the Clinkstones would have, or the Mexican politicos would have let it be known by now..I think it is more out of loyalty to his Tx friends and to GB1,Papa, and GWB’s obsessive loyalty to big Oil and the business interests that hold him back from really stopping the invasion of the illegals and the pardoning of Ramos and Compean..his compassion is misguided and his conservatism is held hostage by business interests..By nature he will not bend and by circumstance he is trapped in his own ways of thinking...Too bad, so much legacy to throw away...it is not too late.

Nic, regarding your post, I totally agree. There is a word for people who post shocking disgusting stuff, by quoting another:

It’s called “Exhibisionism by proxy”. ;-)

Pitiful.

The kicker is, concerning his own behavior and actions, he tried to defend and justify what is indefensible and cannot be justified. More than pitiful, I’d say.

What “statute” would that fall under?

Just guessing, but... Title 18 USC Section 1958

“Why write legislation if the issue is resolved in the appeal?”

Because legislation would be immediate, the appeal takes time plus a positive outcome on the appeal is no guaranteed. Don’t you read?

I thought you were concerned about Ramos and Compean and have been demanding their immediate release from prison?

“It would apply to an off duty, rogue cop, committing a felony not associated with his law enforcement role.”

And what about an ON DUTY copy committing a felony?

“Christmas cards work!”

That about sums up your effort. Forget about demanding Hunter and Poe serve up legislation to get R&C out of prison NOW...sending them a Christmas card is just as good and so much less effort is involved.

Johnny Sutton is merely the Mike Nifong of Texas. Rumor is that Sutton is a Bush acquaintance - I have no idea if so, but it sure stinks, no matter!!

Sutton sucks just like Nifong, and there are more out there (specifically in the far NW, as I recall). The system is broken and I fear stronger measures than normal politics are going to be required to get rid of these “legal scum”!!

I like Bush on the WOT and tax cuts, but other than that I’m having real problems with him - the “North American Union” (NAU) thing, for example.......AARRGGHH!! Ramos & Compean are victims of the NAU mindset, as far as I’m concerned!!

Congress is basically forbidden from applying changes in criminal law retroactively ( no ex post facto laws ).

Wrong. Try learning the basics of the law before you launch attacks on others.

I thought you were concerned about Ramos and Compean and have been demanding their immediate release from prison?

I am concerned about them. What they are going through, being held in solitary confinement, is more than cruel and unusual punishment. But no, I haven't demanded anything.

If I wanted to let someone know they had my support and I was thinking of them, I would send a personal note, or during the holidays a Christmas card. I certainly wouldn't communicate with them by writing to a congressmen. His family has said that they are very appreciative of the supportive letters and cards they receive. Read the original question and my response again.

Original: I wish there was something we could do, with Christmas coming up, to let R & C know that they haven't been forgotten and that they have the support of many people.

Response: Christmas cards work. :-)

Yep--"write your congressman" is probably the Number One Answer on Family Feud!

The law was not intended for on duty LEOs. We’ve been through this before — read back on the thread.

“An unethical ladder-climber like he wouldn’t be taking a job for less money unless there was something in it for him....personally.”

A promotion maybe?

In February 2006, U.S. Border Patrol Agents Ramos and Compean were convicted in a U.S. District Court in Texas for shooting a Mexican drug smuggler.

On March 28, 2006 Gonzales named Sutton, Chair of the Advisory Committee of U.S. Attorneys.

Prosecutor Debra Kanof, in the office of U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton in El Paso, successfully convinced Judge Kathleen Cardone to seal all information about Aldrete-Davila's second load from the jury, thus preventing the defense in the Ramos and Compean trial from using this information to impeach the credibility of Aldrete-Davila's testimony under oath on the stand.

"Convinced." Yeah, right. Yet another corrupt judge basing decisions not on the rule of law, but on her own ideologies. Also, there's no doubt in my mind that this judge is in the back pocket of El Presidente Bush. Not only was information on Aldrete-Davila withheld from the jury, but the severity of the sentence of Ramos/Compean as well! For this alone, President Bush deserves to be impeached. Along with harsh prison sentences for Sutton, Cardone, Kanof and anyone else responsible for imprisoning these two American heroes. Needless to say, I'm not looking forward to 2008; especially towards the end of Bush's reign... er, term. Who knows how many more criminals he'll pardon, and how many more "refugees" he'll bring into our country.

“Congress is basically forbidden from applying changes in criminal law retroactively...”

Several lawyers have been on these threads who would disagree. Are you a lawyer? I always wonder when someone offers a legal opinion starting with the word “basically”.

“Wrong. Try learning the basics of the law before you launch attacks on others.”

Hmmm. Legislation could be offered up in the House tomorrow, put on the fast track, sent to the Senate, put on the fast track and signed by Bush in probably less than a month or two. Once it is signed into law, an order could be signed by a federal judge for them to be immediately released. If pardoning R&C has the political support you claim, these should be a breeze.

The legislation could be made retroactive, several lawyers on these threads have said so.

If you’re going to offer up legal absolutes, change your name to callawgirl.
