Most telling line of the article:
“However, with former Arkansas Gov. and Baptist minister Mike Huckabee emerging as the new darling of conservative evangelical voters, the presidential prospects of erstwhile Great Conservative Hope Fred Thompson may be heading south the endorsement of Minnesota’s and the nation’s preeminent anti-abortion groups notwithstanding.”

“Fred Thompson may soon face his final curtain as his star is eclipsed by the meteoric rise of the more congenial, if less forceful, Huckabee.” .............. Translation, the MSM wants Huckabee, to facilitate Clinton’s win..

Doubtful. I actually think if Thompson rises, it will be at the expense of Romney more than Huckabee. However, I have always said that if Huckabee were to implode, his support will go mostly to Thompson over the other 3 left.
To: 2ndDivisionVet
If Thompson comes in third or fourth place in Iowa, will he stay in?
If he stays in, he would have no prospects in NH and MI, which would not bode well for SC. Is this correct?

So you are ok with not having a full blown Conservative in the White House I see...
I thought my point on our national security would sink in, since Huck likes to laugh about it, disses Bush and wants to close Gitmo.
Alas, since your primary concerns revolve around the "sin" issues, with Huck your desire for a swift judgment should be fulfilled and you will be around to see it.

Third in Iowa, then 4th or 5th in NH. Do you think that will help propel Fred to better than 3rd in SC?
It seems that Fred is putting his all into Iowa, to try to make it work there. If he is barely 3rd or 4th in Iowa, I think he would get out
I am concerned that Fred would get out, and endorse McCain!

I think that we will just have to wait and see. Did you ever think that Huckabee would have gotten this far? I didn’t.
God raises up kings and takes down kings. Anyone that doesn’t think that He is interested in the leadership of this country is making a huge mistake!
