U.S REFUSES TO CONDEMN GLORIFYING OF FASCISM
The Voice of Russia ^ | 20 December 2007 | Yevgeny Kryshkin

Posted on 12/21/2007 3:02:04 AM PST by Doctor13

America has declined backing a UN General Assembly resolution condemning the eulogizing of Nazism.

For a member of the anti-Hitler coalition, the American position, mildly speaking, is bewildering.

It can be seen as consigning to oblivion the past and sacrifices of all those who gallantly fought against fascism to save Europe from the so-called brown plague.

It is not by accident that the Russian foreign ministry has already expressed regrets over the U.S.'s shameful action, for in the adopted resolution supported by 130 U.N members, concern is expressed over the increase in the number of extremist groups preaching racism and xenophobia and spreading fascist ideology.

For any state, the more so the U.S., which uses every opportunity to make a song and dance about its commitment to democracy and humanism not only in words but also lecturing others, eulogizing Nazism should be an abomination.

Today, 60 plus years since the end of World War 2, hatred of man by man ideology remains firmly in the world and it is being unabashedly spread by pro-fascist parties in different countries of our world.

Monuments to Nazi servants and praise extolling SS errand boys have taken place in the Baltic states.

Attempts have been made in Ukraine to elevate members of a rebel army who collaborated with the Nazis to the ranks of members of the liberating army and the dismantling of the monument to those who paid the supreme price to free Europe, stands out like a sore thumb and is a stark reminder of the level of ingratitude man is capable of.

Attempts have also been made to equate the sacrifices of the Soviet Union that lost over 20 million people with those of Nazi Germany that brought untold misery and inhuman privations to Europe

Russia sponsored the resolution condemning glorification of fascism and it has a clear-cut position on the issue, said Alexander Konovalov, president of the Institute of Strategic Evaluations.

"We have received a powerful vaccination against fascism and hence we and most of the rest of the world would not like fascists to be honoured like those who fought against them," said Konovalov.

"This is not the only point. The whole world has paid a heavy price for not recognizing in time the danger posed by fascism. The propelling force of Russia now is to prevent a repeat of that past costly mistake. It sees it as a national and global debt," said Konovalov.

Facism and Communism.
Socialism’s twin bastard children.

How can this be? For as long as I can remember, politicians, academicians, and the media has been telling me that Fascism is a "right wing" movement.

Typical Soviet propaganda - any links to the resolution itself? is it compatible with US freedom of speech rights? - there is no point to look for these answers there.

Dontcha just love it when the “ex-communists” of today’s Russia start moralizing about WW2. What about the Katyn Massacre, or the Red Army’s pause outside Warsaw to let the SS destroy the Polish Home Army? Lots of people died due to Russia’s actions because Stalin saw them as long-term threats to the Soviet Union.

As the Russians and Chinese leave communism behind, they are in fact becoming fascists.

What do they do to deflect criticism over that fact, they insinuate that others are fascists and they are the great protector.

Typical propaganda.

Let's have Russia apologize for the Winter War against Finland, the combined German-Soviet war on Poland, and the German invasion of the Baltic countries. Than, after tearing down all Stalinist imagery and trying Communist party members for crimes against humanit, I'll consider it.

You are very right. The soviets and the nazis shares the same ideology and they were good friends and allied in destroying countries and killing innocent peoples.

The Commies and Nazis hated each other not because they were polar opposites on the political spectrum, but because they were too much alike. Competing brands of the same product.

I like this image better:

Note the visible unease on the face of Soviet Chief of the General Staff Shaposhnikov. He's not sure if it's OK to be seen in the same room as Germans or not. It wasn't too long ago his colleagues were purged for that.

At the signing, Ribbentrop and Stalin enjoyed warm conversations, exchanged toasts and further addressed the prior hostilities between the countries in the 1930s.[93] They characterized Britain as always attempting to disrupt Soviet–German relations, stated that the Anti-Comintern pact was not aimed at the Soviet Union, but actually aimed at Western democracies and "frightened principally the City of London [i.e., the British financiers] and the English shopkeepers". -
