Okay, Let’s Talk Conspiracy
Bob Parks: Outside The Wire ^ | 12/20/07 | Bob Parks

When you look at some of the pictures of Paul supporters, you see young and old alike, but you also see the peace signs, the word “love” reversed in the word “revolution”. What one clearly sees is a bunch of disenfranchised liberals who assume they’ve found a welcoming new home.

They’ve clearly identified with the anti-war message of Dr. Paul. Obviously, these people feel betrayed by the Democrats with whom they voted for in 2006 after being promised an end to the Iraq War. Democrats clearly have been unable to make good on their many promises. While that’s not news to real Republicans, the anti-war left has been left dismayed, betrayed, and rudderless.

I say they “assume” they’ve found a new home because these are the same people who’ve over the last few years have loudly and proudly called conservatives every name in the book. They’ve called us “racists”, “homophobes”, “bigots”, “hate mongers”, “sexists”, and more. They’ve called me an “uncle tom”, “wannabe white”, and that’s from white liberals. Look at what they did to Condoleezza Rice, and were damn proud of it.

I haven’t seen that car sticker situation yet.

So far the biggest cat sticker supporters and yard sign supporters in our area are the old line John Birchers with Get Out of the UN stickers still on their old cars and signs in their yards with the Paulit stuff.

That’s my point: liberals trying to infiltrate and take over the Republican Party and make it their home away from home.

As I stated in an earlier post on a different thread, I came of voting age in ‘64 and well remember the vilification Goldwater and his supporters took from many sides.

I voted for Nixon the first time around but didn’t have the stomach for it the second time and sat that one out. When Reagan ran in ‘76, I thought nirvana had arrived but we got the short end of that by the old boy school that felt they had to keep Ford in office. Our loss.

When Reagan ran again for the ‘80 election, it was ecstatic time again and this time “good” prevailed. A lot of that came from “the speech” he made for Goldwater in ‘64. So all was not lost back then.

I voted for Bush 1 till I read his lips. I held my nose and voted for Dole. I voted for GW the first time, sat out the second.

Now as I gaze at the political landscape over the past 44 years which way has the country gone? Not forward, I think.

Will I vote half-heartedly for another presidential candidate again? Not no but hell now.

Sounds to me like your only perfect candidate for political office would be.....yourself...since you refuse to acknowledge that Democracy is a lot of give and take.

Sorry you are so down. It is a shame our capitalistic representative Democracy is absolutely the worst form of Government in the world.....except for all the others...

I’m sure that there are some anarchist types supporting him, too.

A lot of college kids who've just discovered Ayn Rand. His campaign slogan -- "Who is Ron Paul?" -- is clearly directed at that audience.

I look at every Ron Paul rabid supporter as a net loss of one vote for the Democrats or a no show for the Republicans anyway.

Yes, you are correct. Each Republican for Paul is the loss of only 1/2 vote in the general election. I won't vote for a Democrat, but I won't vote for another Republican candidate either.

since you refuse to acknowledge that Democracy is a lot of give and take.

Since January, 1989, it's been all give here, with a small exception in 1995.

Shame your not voting for any other Republican candidate besides Won Paul. I guess outside of Won Paul, the only other person that you would ever vote for is yourself.

Yep, or a few others. I've been down the road, since 1988, of holding my nose and see the results: a "conservative" movement that not only is not conservative but doesn't even remember what conservative is. No more. And the disaster for the GOP may be that quite a few others are the same.

But I can't say too much without getting banned.

I sort of got the notion that a fair amount of his support is derived from liberals who want to affect the machinations
of the caucus process. Sort of a strawman.

I haven’t been around as long as you...my first Presidential vote was for Reagan Again, and my latest for GWB Again...but I remember the 1970s, and that we have not returned there yet, and that the electorate is much more sophisticated and the DBM monopoly is smashed quite probably beyond repair...and I still have hope that while we may have slowed, backed and filled a few times (especially during the 90s) we are still far ahead of where we were in 1968...1972...1976...1980...1984...1988...1992...1996...2000...2004...maybe we’ve drifted backward a bit since 2006, but even for this member of “the working poor” (<20K) each of those years after 1980 (except 1996) represents an improved set of circumstances in my life.

Hope that’s true for you as well.
