ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI-myFOXstl.com) -- Late Wednesday night, former New York governor and Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani went to Barnes-Jewish hospital after feeling ill.

Giuliani had traveled across Missouri Wednesday by car after mechanical problems on his aircraft left him without a plane for his stumping.

The statement from the Giuliani campaign reads:

"ST. LOUIS - Rudy Giuliani Communications Director Katie Levinson released the following statement this morning:

Earlier today, Mayor Giuliani experienced flu-like symptoms campaigning in Missouri. The symptoms worsened as the day wore on and shortly after taking off from Chesterfield, Missouri for New York the Mayor became uncomfortable enough that our plane returned to the airport in Chesterfield. To be on the safe side, the Mayor consulted with his personal physician in New York and made the decision to go to the Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for routine tests.

"The Mayor will spend the night in St. Louis and we will provide another update in the morning."

I suppose I should say the same thing. Maybe a little less quickly... ;-)

Rudy’s Nom contract is down 4 points at Intrade, possibly on this news.

.

.

.

According to Intrade, the winner of the December 12th GOP debate was... Duncan Hunter.

flu-like symptoms

Motion sickness maybe? I hope he's ok.
I remember my first experience with motion sickness "or vertigo"
when I played Warbirds many many years ago. It's similar to the flu imo.

That's the funniest thing I've seen all week.

Get well, Mayor Giuliani. And then go healthily back to private life where you belong.

It’s possible “flu-like symptoms” are a euphemism for diarrhea; he may have been admitted for dehydration and much needed iv fluids.

I will definitely pray for the Mayor. Politics aside, I like him. What’s amazing is that more of the candidates don’t get really sick, being in the crowds they have to be in every day, shaking hands, etc. I’d buy purell by the gallon. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

Yeah, Hillary had a convenient ‘illness’ to garner sympathy a while back too.

But Rudy, if you’re really sick physically, prayers up.

And a prayer for the repentance and healing of your SOUL.

Spare me. Go to the hospital for diarrhea? He's never heard of Kaopectate?

That's part of the problem. People go to the hospital for measliest of reasons.

Now, if he had measles, then I might cut him some slack.

I doubt this is because he is a sissy. Influenza can go into pneumonia quickly when you’ve had cancer, because your immune system never fully recovers.

Since Rudy has had cancer, and it is in remission, getting the flu OR having flu-like symptoms can be serious. My mom had to judiciously guard her health after breast and lung cancer.
