Clintoon got 43% in 1992 and 49% in 1996 despite having Bob Dole implode and basically running unopposed in most states.
No democrat has won the White House with more than 50% of the vote since 1976. A long, long, long time.
There have been only six Democrats in our nation's history who have managed to capture a majority of the popular vote. It goes to show that Democrats are really not that popular.
