We recognize the authority of the Almighty, but we don’t recognize the authority of Christ - BC stands for “Before Christ,” so why should we use that abbreviation any more than you’d use the Islamic calendar for dates?

"What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet." - Shakespeare

You change what "BC" stands for but you can't change what it means. It's a meaningless protest to use Christ as the hinge of history around which the world's predominant calendar swings... and ignore Christ Himself. All you do with this is give the secularists another idea of how to push our society more to their liking... and I promise you it won't be to yours.

I've always thought that, since you use the Christian dates, it would be less disrespectful to go ahead and use the Christian designations BC and AD as well. Otherwise, just use the Jewish dates. To use the Christian date and a neuter designation seems unnecessarily dismissive. But, hey, this Christian's feelings aren't hurt. Besides, there's no way we've been whacked as a group like the Jews have over time (notwithstanding it's been open-season on us of late).

So what does the common era signify?
