Which is stupid, and why we should do away with no-fault divorce. If a man has been married to a woman for a length of time, of course he should have to pay alimony, but if either party commits adultery or something comparable, they shouldnt be rewarded for it.
BINGO!

Like othes have pointed out, the happy one doesnt want to leave the marriage usually
So the one whos being mistreated (either gender) should be punished?
There are instances where the spouse (Either gender) claims that the boredom of the marriage IS mistreatment -thus, the cheating happens. Caused, of course, by the other party because their, "Needs," weren't fulfilled in a timely manner.
Personally, I call this, "Selfishness." Hence, my tagline.

FWIW. I am an attorney with a litigation practice that includes matrimonial law.
I have a quick question for you.
If a Mother is proven unable to support 2 kids due to her own negligence, and agrees to grant full custody to the Father who's more than willing and able to do it, what would the reason be for the Father to STILL have to pay child support if he is taking care of the kids full time?

Marriage is very much like a contract.
It's too bad that the part of, "And to forsake all others," can't be re-written into something simple like, "Don't cheat. Ever."

No reason. What's reason got to do with it? No, seriously, in your scenario, at the time of the change of custody, the father can and should insist that they enter a formal consent order in court that changes custody and either terminates, or reverses the direction of, child support. If anything, you could envision a weird situation where the bargain includes a few shekels going to the wife where she is totally indigent and can't even afford visitation expenses.
