DECORAH, Iowa (CNN) -- Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson is trying to become a GOP contender in record time. GOP hopeful Fred Thompson opened up about his campaign with CNN's Dana Bash. "It's a little late in the process for me to be coy. I want you to know that I think I'm that man," he told an audience of more than 100 in Dubuque, Iowa. Thompson just started a 15-day bus tour to 50-plus Iowa cities. He'll be in the state nearly every day until the January 3 caucuses.

"I have no problem raising my hand as a general proposition when Chief Justice John Roberts asks me to raise my hand. I'll be glad to take the oath of office," Thompson said
That’s terrific! Go Fred Go!
sorry couldn't resist.
In politics timing is everything!
I’m so glad Fred didn’t bring up the word “mojo”. How silly.

Is Karl Rove one of Fred’s advisers?
He has a quick wit and a deep intelligence. And both are in service to strong hard-core conservative principles.
Dunno, always think of football when I hear “mojo,” not Austin Powers. Makes more sense in that context.
Gruuvy Baby!
I tend to think of that woman runner Flo Jo
Timing is everything, but Fred does’t know that, otherwise he would not have waited until it was too late to announce his candidacy and would not have done it on a late night talk show when most people were in bed asleep! His timing has been dreadful.
And the beauty of it is, the others guys did themselves in...
Fred just sat back and watched, chompin’ on a stogie and keeping his reserves for the big game.

The only thing better would be if Fred would slam the MSM by telling them they are purposely ignoring him, but that might have a backlash, so maybe it is wise for the time being for Fred not to harp on that. I hope he does address it at a later date though. I'd love to see them squirm.
“Is Karl Rove one of Freds advisers?”
I don’t believe so.
I did hear Rove say, however, (paraphrasing) this: “The likley Democratic nominee will be Hillary. She has never done anything in her adult life without calculation and polling. She’s very good. No one can beat her at this. But the public is very tired of calculating politicians. The only way the Republicans can beat her is for the candidate to be very genuine, just himself.”
I believe he went on to praise Rudy and Thompson as genuine — like them or not -— and gently pan McCain and Myth Romney as “caculators” -— essentially damning them with faint praise.
I agree with Rove on this point — only a genuine person can beat the Clinton machine — a flopper like Myth or McCain would get crushed.
Given that Rudy is genuine, but a liberal -— Thompson is my man, as he genuine AND a conservative.
Dunno, I see a lot of candidates with bad cases of premature electoration.
You know, you don’t want to rise too soon. Embarassing and a little messy.
