Where’s the box that says we drive ourselves into a horrible depression, give up all our freedoms, and the global climate goes to hell ANYWAY?

His logic is exactly the same as the rich man, faced with his imminent death, calling his lawyer to change his will to leave his fortune to the church.

He thinks this will buy his salvation from an appreciative god who has been appeased, but he still harbors doubts whether his coach will end up at the right station when the trip is over.

Only this guy wants everybody to carpool with him.

He's no Julius Sumner Miller ("Physics Is My Business") that's for sure. I used to love staying up late at night and watching his old shows.

Here's one I found on YouTube

He used the climate change debate to teach critical thinking.

One out of many scary things about this guy's mindset is that he appears to be totally confused about the meaning of "critical thinking". Maybe he imagines that "critical thinking" means being critical of the Bush administration or of Western Civilization or something equally balmy and superficial and wrong.

It reminds me of clueless leftists who have claimed that "political correctness" meant "adhering to conservative principles" rather than toeing the lines set down by loony leftists, and therefore the gauntlet of PC idiocies that burden everyday life are therefore not connected in any way to political correctness (because, according to their fuzzy understanding, since "conservatives" were in control of the Presidency as well as both houses of Congress, the term 'politically correct' meant adhering to the politics of the political majority in the government).

No amount of logic, reason, or patient explanation can get through the haze of confusion that seemingly envelops misguided brains such as those...

In a nutshell. We should throw tons of money into GW “solutions” just in case it’s true. Using his logic, we should build a shield around the planet in case we get hit by a massive meteor. It would be money well spent.

Tell these same morons that they should believe in God just in case IT'S true and see what reaction you get.

Here’s an alternate argument. You could use his little four-square, TRUE/FALSE Opportunity diagram for CATASTROPHIC METEORITE collision. His single-threaded approach to how to address this vital issue plays out exactly the same.

Using his line of thinking, we better solve the threat of a global asteroid collision pronto.

Of course, this kool-aid drinker only plays out the absolutely worst case scenarios. Not only because it’s how he states the construct of the problem, in worst case suppositions, but it also plays on the fear of impending doom.

That’s all GW proponents have; Fear.

And, by the way, he can’t analyze Climate Change as a natural course of events. He has to keep it a simple four-square diagram, thereby limiting thought. It’s all under the guise of man-made, man-caused and man-preventable. His mother earth (his mom, not mine) is probably laughing her ass off at him as he postulates about man’s ability to affect change on the globe.

ouch, I bet he has huge carbon footprint, hours and hours of work on computers, redbull, heck and the millions of people using computers to access the content. Maybe he will cry when he thinks of the damage he has done.

Great minds, I was just thinking of Dr. Miller in this relation. Actually, I think this guy reminds me more of Professor Irwin Corey, but that’s another story.

And, epynomously speaking, this “molder of skulls full of mush” is aptly named (Craven).

We don't have to know for certain whether human-induced global warming is really occurring to act on it, because "the risk of not acting far outweighs the risk of acting."

This type of argument is not enough to pre-empt the nut case in Iran from getting the Nuke Bomb, but it is OK to put the world's economy in the tank and implement socialism "just in case".

Even if I agreed that we should act....I don’t agree that we should spend trillions attempting to stop GCC....that money would be better spent preparing for it...at the very least we know we can prepare for it....there is absolutely no proof we can prevent it....trying too would be a fools errand...IMHO....

Here’s another dubious assumption the guy makes: Any change in the climate will be unambiguously bad. In other words, the current climate is perfect and any deviation from it will have negative consequences. I don’t know how you can justify that assumption.
