The thing is, The Surge was the biggest story of the year and Patraeus made it work. Should’ve been a no-brainer, but once again the press proves it has no brains.
The latest TIME has an article on the surge entitled “Hold the Cheers”. Predictably, it goes on to say that Iraq is still all doom and gloom and no one should be happy despite the dramatic drop in violence. Most of all, all TIME readers should continue to hate Bush. Another article proclaims the Republicans are in “chaos” with no candidate.

Dittos on this. Iraq is a non-story now that we are decisively winning in Iraq, and the history-changing leaders are getting ignored.
They have plenty of brains. They know that the perception of defeat in Iraq is what’s best for their party.
