Thanks for the ping, nic.

The reasons Duncan Hunter hasn’t got a prayer of inhabiting the White House, even though he is the most suitable candidate to serve as leader of the free world are:

(1) He has no ‘charisma’ – and, in modern America, ‘charisma’ is significantly more important than allegiance to the Constitution, faith in our republican system of government, honesty, intelligence, integrity, and dedication to ensuring America’s sovereignty.

(2) The other candidates are busy pandering to countless special interest groups, and solving frivolous media-created 'crises'. Such pandering/superficiality gains instant media access. Hunter is busy proposing genuine solutions to what ails us. The media throws such serious, high-level proposals into a ‘un-newsworthy’ black hole. After all, such stories are neither entertaining nor attractive for the five-minute sound-bite garbage that passes for ‘news’ these days.

(3) The average American, whose desire to hold the mainstream media accountable in order to ferret out the truth is virtually non-existent, hasn’t even heard of Duncan Hunter. But he can tell you that he’s not quite sure he could vote for a Mormon candidate … or he can recite a litany of reasons that human beings are evil and are destroying the planet with their carbon emissions … or he can provide you with the moment-by-moment whereabouts and tribulations of Brittney Spears. Hitler’s belief (that constant repetition of simple lies is among the most powerful propaganda tools) is being tested, and proved absolute genius, in America 2007.

Can’t fault only our corrupt, power-hungry Congress for the lack of a fence … and the widespread devastation that will eventually occur as a result of its non-existence. Our President has broken countless promises in that regard as well. I believe that 90%+ of the politicians in Washington place the amassing of power, the health of the ‘business community’, and the placating of powerful special interest groups far above the need to ensure the safety of our citizens and the sovereignty of our republic.

I’ve often said that the only thing that could help us reclaim our republic from the scoundrels who are bent of her destruction would be the election of another Reagan. But I don’t believe even Ronald Reagan could win election in today’s political climate … which goes a long way toward explaining Duncan Hunter’s media-created anonymity as a candidate. When people, or groups, have a vested interest in evil, they are eager to silence those who proclaim the truth.

You've got a way with words, joanie. Sadly, I must agree with everything you said, completely. What a tragic state of affairs for this country, present and future. America's longevity as a leader is dim, just as dim as an electable leader emerging from this country with America's best interests at heart.
