Has every school administrator lost the last shred of sanity he/she ever had?

My nine-year-old son had a metal compass, used for making perfect circles, in his school bag. A friend told him he better take it home, because with the sharp point, the school might consider it a weapon.

It’s amazing that once all of these zero tolerance policies were put into place that all thinking adults lost the ability to reason. I would imagine that the parents forgot the knife was prohibitted, but admit that they remember learning of the policy in the past.

At least they stopped short on insisting on the death penalty.

School administrators are not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. They need simple rules to follow.

Don't blame those folks - it's the insurance companies and district lawyers and overzealous parents - they've created a lawsuit happy atmosphere that leads to "zero tolerance" (i.e. "zero common sense").

It is beyond time for people who still have their sanity, decency, and integrity intact to begin running for school boards and take control of their children’s futures away from these ... (sigh) ... people. I have been thinking for some time that this is the place to start regaining control. Locally.

"But once we're notified, we have to take some type of action," Pogue explained.

Right -

They had the knife.

The parents may not have been immediately available, but I just betcha the school would not have been in too much danger had the little girl been left to continue her day in school until said parents were reached -

Instead, this little girl now is a felon??? until, presumably age 18 - and this record will follow her from grade to grade - not to mention the trauma.

Adults have entered the twilight zone.

Take your kids out of public schools - they are, each and every one, under the threat of like actions each and every day.

The lunatics are in charge...

She should plead not guilty and ask for a jury trial.

I’m sure there are some publicity-seeking legal firms who would take the case pro bono. It should not be a difficult one to win.

It is time to eliminate “tenure” in all schools, fire a (bunch) of coddled “teachers”, and take back our public schools.

NOW.

No more excuses.

Educators, have gone completely nuts.

“She now faces a felony charge after being arrested.”

Nonsense alert. She is 10 years old. There is no way she will be charged with a felony.

The schools have gone insane, and some of it is due to the twisted version of liability that has been forced on us by a greed band of lawyers.

But, there is no way that a 10 year old can face a felony charge for this. In that respect, this article is yellow journalism

I guess they have to do this...After eating her steak, she could have hacked the principal and janitor to death...You know...Liability issues. Same reason why they now only provide the students with pencils that have erasers on both ends. Safety first.

If some nitwit, pc drenched, idiot did something like that to one of mine. There would definitely be felonies involved.

I can’t imagine how scared (and scared) a little kid could be, when taken by the police like this. Why can’t the police just stand strong and tell the “school” people to handle it themselves?
