Wow man, anyone here know where I can score some weed? My bursitis is acting up bit, think it was all that protest sign waving I did at the peace rally in ‘69. Now don’t you feel better?

Not all Boomers are socialist, but there are many, many socialist Boomers!

"The question is, why did the Greatest Generation spoil their kids so badly?"

I submit my "Pendulum Effect" theory: The Greatest Generation lived the depression; they had "nothing". So when the War was won and the '50's boomed, they went way too far in making sure their kids had "everything". [Again, I am not a psychologist, I just play one on FR.]

Well I'll tell you a few things about the boomer generation that are different than the younger generations.

We were kind, thoughtful, concerned, helpful and polite. I see none of these qualities in many of the self serving young people today.

They would sooner run you over than step around you, that is, if they see you at all.

Excellent article by Prager. Makes us aware of what we have lost.

Does this mean that all of us GenXers will eventually be apologizing for the Clintons

Hey, all you freeping Baby Boomers...don't sweat this nonsense. Those of us with any kind of brain know where to lay the blame for our country's ills. Without all of you, we'd be in a far bigger mess.

Who do you think fought Desert Storm?

Generation X, smart guy. Baby Boomers fought and bailed out of Vietnam (through protesting). The War generation may have robbed us with Social Security, et al. , but the boomers have gone after the "patriarchy' with great lust.Oh, and who said Welfare, Medicare and SS cant ever be changed? Just not under Baby Boomer watch, is all... Pampered and selfish .IMO.

I'm not apologizing.

For one thing, I was 10 years old when all the hippie stuff reached its peak.

Secondly, I voted for Reagan twice. I'm really a member of Generation Reagan.

Thirdly, collective guilt by class is a leftist concept.

Finally, if we are going to go leftist and label a whole "worst" generation, I think the woe is me whining of the vocal partisans of "Generation X" give that unhappy breed a leg up on being the worst.

“It was the boomers who took down the Soviet empire, kids.”

Nonsense. Reagan was a boomer? Reagan succeeded over the opposition of the left wing boomers.

"We knew the problems existed, but the WWII generation wouldn’t let us fix them."

Hmmmmm, maybe! I would think the age stats on "who voted for the 1994 Republican Congress" (first Repub Congress in 40 years), would help answer that (unless it crossed generations).

WE didn’t put in place the “Great Society” or Medicaid. WE didn’t put the judges on the Supreme Court that decided “Roe”. WE weren’t the ones in power in DC that bungled both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. We weren’t the ones who broke the piggy bank. That was the “Greatest Generation” (Welfare, Medicare and Social Security).

The "Greatest Generation" should really be called "the Statist Generation"

Who do you think fought Desert Storm?

Most of the troops who fought in Operation Desert Storm were born after 1960.

Oh, it was Reagan who stood watch on the Rhine night after night for decades just to keep the Russian bear in check? Silly me, I always though that it was the troops of the all volunteer Army (nearly every one a 'boomer') who sacrificed public sector careers to serve.

I agree with you that Fred is the man to support, but I agree with the author about the Baby Boomers. I believe the too many Baby Boomers, their Yuppie kids and the kids Yuppie Puppies have been so rotten spoiled and self centered that that they have literally “consumed the raft they were floating on” by mortgaging the country to sustain a false vision of a Utopian paradise that was built upon the sacrifices of the preceding generations and the hopes of future generations. This is not to ignore the incredible advances made by a smaller segment of these generations who have pushed the world to a futuristic level unimagined a few years ago. But it is the Boomer generation set the course to a more socialistic society which fostered the false hope of utopia.

The greatest success of the Left has been achieving tolerance for their insanity.
