The Governor of Texas has before the Legilature letters from Gen. Cass and the Mexican Minister at Washington on the frontier troubles between Texas and Mexicans. The Mexican Minister complains to the Government of the United States "that from the town of San Antonio de Bexar, the residents of Mexican origin have been expelled, living there in a peacable manner, under the protection of the laws of the United States, and of the treaties subsisting between the two Governments,"
The Minister expresses the hope and confidence that the Government of the United States "will by every means, proceed to investigate the truth, to apply corrective action, and take all such measures as are demanded by justice, the law of nations and the honor of the United States."

The article is from 1857, but in many ways could be written today.

Or pick a more defensible border farther south and have those who want to learn English and live under the US Constitution apply to be annexed. Mexico doesn’t seem to be in a rush to fix its own problems internally.

“I, for one, remember the Alamo!”
The Battle of the Alamo was in 1836, but I agree with your sentiment.

It figures this is 150 years old. It was too good to be true.

Dont’ hold your breath. It ain’t gonna happen this week...or even by the end of next year. Probably not this decade.

A friend of my wife is a BP agent in Del Rio Texas. His wife sent my wife a Christmas card with a letter the other day. In the letter she said that her daughter, who is in the 2nd grade I believe, had only eight students in her class of 20 that spoke English.
The teacher got so tired of translating everything she did that she finally refused and said she would only teach in English. The friends daughter would come home crying because she would sit around all day waiting for the lessons to be taught to the Spanish speakers.

This kinda puts a kink in Mexico’s invasion plan to retake the SW US I would think, at least in Texas.

The Minister expresses the hope and confidence that the Government of the United States "will by every means, proceed to investigate the truth, to apply corrective action, and take all such measures as are demanded by justice, the law of nations and the honor of the United States." Honor is dissipating here in the U.S. thanks to YOU and liberal life long politicians defacing the Constitution of our country so wanton by many to become a part of our wealth illegally.
